Master of Public Health ( MPH) program at IIP H-Delhi

BACKGROUND

The public health system in India can be strengthened through the presence of well-trained and competent public health professionals. Qualified public health professionals are a necessity to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Such an inter-disciplinary public health workforce can also advance the vision of Universal Health Care. The aim of our MPH program is to make public health education and research activities relevant to India in content and context, while attaining standards which are qualitatively comparable with the best in the world. The Indian Institute of Public Health-Delhi (IIPH-Delhi) is pleased to announce its call for applications, for the fourth batch of Master of Public Health being offered in the academic year July 2019 - June 2021, affiliated to Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) Trivandrum, an Institute of National Importance under Govt. of India.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

1. Prepare students in program organization and management, problem solving, and critical thinking in the public health domain

2. Prepare students to undertake public health research in Institutional and field setting

3. Prepare students to work in socially, culturally and economically diverse populations by being attentive to needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups and well versed with existing health system

4. Promote qualities of leadership and effective use of communication skills for health advocacy among students

5. Prepare students for teaching /training posts in public health Institutions

COURSE FEESTuition Fee*

• For Indian and South Asian Nationals: The annual tuition fee for the students admitted in academic year 2019-20 is INR 1.80 Lakhs per student per academic year. (The total fee for the two year program is Rs. 3,60,000/- which includes Rs. 10,000/- admission fees and Rs. 10,000/- examination fees)

• For International Candidates: The annual tuition fee for the students admitted in academic year 2019-20 is 5,500 USD per student per academic year.

This does not include hostel fee, cost of books, stationery, certificates, food, field trips, dissertation, convocation etc.*

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR ADMISSIONMedical graduates (MBBS), Dental graduates (BDS), Graduates of AYUSH [Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), Bachelor of Naturopathy & Yogic Sciences (BNYS), Bachelor of Unani Medicine & Surgery (BUMS), Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS), Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS)], B Tech or BE (Any Branch) and graduates of four-year degree programs in Veterinary Sciences, Nursing sciences, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, or students with a postgraduate degree in Statistics/ Biostatistics, Demography, Population Studies, Nutrition, Sociology, Economics, Psychology, Anthropology, Social Work, Management or Law may apply. Work experience in a health- related field is desirable.

The placement cell at IIPH-Delhi supports the placement process by identifying relevant career opportunities for those who are seeking placement assistance.

Since inception, the institute has placed 93% of its graduates from all its programs.

PROGRAM DURATION

The program is divided in four semesters over a period of two years. Students must complete 60 credits to graduate.

ADMISSION AND SELECTION

Number of seats: 50

Application would be screened based on eligibility criteria. Eligible applicants would then go through a selection process, which includes a written test and an interview.

Reservation of seats in admissions will be as per Government of India policy as applicable from time to time. If suitable candidates are not available under the reserved category, the seats will be filled by general category candidates.

PHFI is a public-private initiative that collaboratively evolved through consultations with multiple constituencies, including Indian and international academia, state and central governments, multi-and bi-lateral agencies, and civil society groups. PHFI aims to address the limited Institutional capacity in India for training, research, and policy development in the area of public health through establishment of Indian Institutes of Public Health across the country.
