BLENDED / ONLINE LEARNINGAll the postgraduate courses are offered either online or with blended delivery. This means that the majority of the work is located on a virtual teaching platform with directed activities and learning that you work through. Lecturers work within the virtual classroom setting daily so that they maintain contact with students as much as if they were in a face-to-face classroom setting.
Blended delivery means that there are on-campus contact sessions or workshops with the bulk of the learning activity undertaken in the online environment.
Various teaching modes are used, such as virtual classroom discussions at predetermined times, and also in the asynchronous format.
This flexible delivery method allows you to study at your pace, in your place, at locations throughout New Zealand.
INDIVIDUAL STUDY HOURSGenerally the courses are delivered asynchronously via online delivery. However, some courses may require attendance at synchronous online sessions or face-to-face workshops on the EIT campus. Any requirement for attendance at synchronous or face-to-face sessions is identified in the course information.
Please refer to a link within the enrolment pack letter for the programme timetable, showing full year and semester dates, and compulsory study days or contact the Postgraduate Programmes Secretary.
Each credit for the course represents 10 hours of student learning/study time over the period of the course.
Each course consists of online learning opportunities and in some cases clinical fieldwork, and on campus workshops. You are expected to spend subsequent time in independent/self-directed study, critical reflection, and field work in your place of study or place of work.
ADDITIONAL COSTS ▶ $150 - $200 approximately per course for
textbooks (book lists will be available after enrolment)
ENTRY CRITERIAA personal interview may be part of the application process where required or appropriate.
The normal requirement for entry is an undergraduate degree in a health science or nursing with a B pass or better.
Where the applicant's undergraduate degree does not provide the basis of study at the level required for more advanced study, enrolment in transitional or undergraduate courses may be required before the applicant can be admitted.
Special ConditionsApplicants must provide evidence of a current annual practising certificate with the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
For nurses considering the nurse practitioner pathway, please seek guidance in regard to course choices before enrolling. You may contact the Postgraduate Programmes Coordinator (Nursing), through the School of Nursing.
Some courses will require students to be actively working in the specialty area of practice.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE ENTRY REQUIREMENTAll applicants, from countries where English is not the primary spoken language, require satisfactory achievement of tertiary studies in a country where English is the language of instruction or an IELTS score of at least 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any of the bands.
ENTRY WITH CREDITApplicants may be admitted with academic credit. The Postgraduate Programmes Cluster Committee has discretion in the granting of academic credit.
Academic credit may be awarded as specified credit where there is a substantial match between
previous learning and the course for which academic credit is sought.
Credit granted shall not be for course(s) completed as part of an undergraduate degree, nor shall credit be granted that exceeds one-half of the total programme credits.
An Entry with Credit application pack is available on enrolment. It is recommended that applications for Entry with Credit are made as part of your initial application. This will assist in our academic advisement to you regarding your programme of study and course selection. However, your entry with credit cannot be processed until you are enrolled.
