About TUM
Technical University of Munich The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is one of Europe’s leading universities in research and tea-
ching. As the Entrepreneurial University, it doesn’t just seek to understand the world – it sets out to im-
prove it. That is why the entire university revolves around one core goal: innovation.
TUM’s unparalleled range of disciplines covers engineering and natural sciences, life sciences and medicine,
management and social sciences – a combination found nowhere else in Europe. TUM leverages this enormous
potential by combining the different subjects intelligently. This inspires modern fields of research, ranging from
bioengineering to machine intelligence. At the same time, TUM connects technological change with social, poli-
tical and ethical issues more closely than many other technical universities. TUM leads Germany in terms of the
number of start-ups it produces – the result of a support infrastructure unrivaled in Europe. The university also
builds longterm research partnerships with innovative global players, and more and more companies are esta-
blishing roots directly on campus.
TUM School of Management TUM School of Management is one of Germany’s leading business schools. Ever since its foundation,
its unique value proposition has been to pursue research and teaching at the interface of management,
engineering and the natural and life sciences.
The physical proximity of these various disciplines at TUM allows us to address technology-oriented research
questions relating to management. This would be impossible if we did not form part of a larger technical univer-
sity. Based on our interdisciplinary approach to teaching, we educate future managers who are equally at home
talking to management experts or engineers and scientists. Thanks to the supportive environment at TUM – The
Entrepreneurial University, a considerable number of our graduates create start-ups in technology-based indus-
tries. Many of our former participants in executive education now work in leading positions. We have prepared
companies to face future challenges and helped them introduce new types of leadership. In the coming years,
we aim to address the major transformational trends of digitalization, the UN Sustainable Development Goals
and globalization. We will use our research skills to help solve the grand societal challenges. We will educate our
students to meet the challenges posed by digital transformation and make them more sensitive to issues related
to sustainable development. We will exploit the possibilities that digitalization offers for research, teaching and
learning. And consistent with these ambitions, we will strive to become increasingly international in our outlook
and activities.

Professional Education and Training
The continuing rollout of entrepreneurial activities at TUM Campus Heilbronn
means that we can offer new forms of professional education and training
via our Executive Education Center. By generating research in the key area
of digitalization, and with excellently equipped educational institutions in two
of Europe’s most important economic regions, we can prepare the economic
leaders of tomorrow for future socioeconomic upheaval. We will also be using
our Executive Education platform to experiment with innovative approaches.
Facilities at TUM Campus Heilbronn
Bildungscampus Heilbronn is one of the most ambitious higher edu cation
projects in Germany today, providing first-class facilities for research and
teaching for three universities. Its aim is to attract faculty, postdocs and stu-
dents from all over the world. The architecture of the Campus is designed to
enable close interaction between staff and students.
The last months at Bildungscampus Heilbronn have seen the establishment
of a number of new institutions and facilities. We’ve opened a new library
where students have access to a number of books, ebooks and technological
devices. TUM also created a brand new XR-Lab where students can explore
the world of Virtual Reality and digital teaching and learning methods. In 2020
we’ll witness the grand opening of the new Student Dining Hall, which is an
architectural highlight on Bildungscampus Heilbronn.
CampusHeilbronnAbout TUM –
As part of an initiative by the Dieter Schwarz Foundation (DSF), TUM
School of Management is creating a teaching and research facility at
Bildungscampus Heilbronn (Heilbronn Education Campus).
The new center, known as TUM Campus Heilbronn, will focus on managing
digital technology, entrepreneurship and small or medium sized enter-
prises. It shares the vision, mission, values and strategy of the Technical
University of Munich and TUM School of Management.
Strategic Approach
The creation of TUM Campus Heilbronn represents a significant expansion of
TUM School of Management’s current strategy. By focusing on the manage-
ment of digital change, the School will be able to implement one of its main
strategic objectives in two important economic regions in Europe: Munich
and Heilbronn. TUM Campus Heilbronn also closes a major gap by building
connections with small and medium sized enterprises. While the Munich
campus focuses more on working with DAX companies, large corporations
and start-ups, the Heilbronn campus enables close cooperation with local,
small and medium sized enterprises, many of which are hidden champions in
the high-tech sector and important players in the economy as a whole.

TestimonialsOpinions
„The Master in Management & Innovation at TUM in Heilbronn has been an
eye-opener for me. The faculty are amazing – we are even on first-name terms with them, which is
refreshing. But what is really useful is the discussions and group work during the classes. The students
come from all different backgrounds and countries so you get to hear very different perspectives. Sometimes
I think you learn as much from the students as you do from the professors! Plus, everyone brings their own angle to the
project work, so it‘s just like real life, with maybe an engineer, a legal expert and an HR expert working together in one
team. Perhaps the best thing, though, is the first-hand knowledge that you get from working with companies based in
the area around Heilbronn, which is home to many R&D facilities for major German companies, some huge industry
players and a number of „hidden champions.“
Martin JankoskiStudent of the Master in Management & Innovation – TUM Track
„Having pursued seven years working in sales management and PR in Japan, I decided
to take the Master in Management & Innovation as a way to discover what area I wanted
to focus on in my career. In Japan we typically work as generalists with a broad range of responsibilities, which ena-
bles us to develop our business skills. But I wanted to take my career to the next level and become a specialist. As
a result of doing the Master‘s, I discovered that I was most interested in finance. In fact, I‘m studying to become
a CPA and also worked as an intern in Sales Controlling at Bosch, one of the leading businesses in the Stuttgart-
Heilbronn area. During the Master‘s, I was really inspired by the discussions with the other students, who came from
eight different countries. Now, I‘m excited about my future working in an area that combines technology and finance.“

„I chose the Master in Management & Innovation because of my passion for technology
and innovation. What I like most about the program is the combination of studying with people from
all over the world, gaining international experience and having the chance to put your theoretical knowledge into practice in a
real-life project. The trip to China in particular gave me a different view on China‘s growth and innovation potential – and also
the chance to work in one of the world‘s largest economies.“
Maximilian YazdtschiGraduate of the Master in Management & Innovation – Double Degree Track
„The Double Degree at TUM School of Management in Munich and the HEC in Paris really
set me up for my later professional life. Apart from some unforgettable moments at both locations, I made many new con-
tacts and was able to build up a strong international network. The project-related work on real problems at TUM was good
training with regard to structured working methods and self-organization. In Paris I appreciated the really international
student body, which broadened my cultural horizons. Students at TUM have access to the latest technical infrastructure,
combined with all the excitement of living in Munich. The campus in Jouy-en-Josas in Paris also offers all the facilities that
students need and provides an excellent learning environment.“
„I was particularly impressed by the way theory and practice were interwoven in the
Master in Management & Innovation at TUM School of Management in Heilbronn. As a working student from the com-
pany AEB in Stuttgart, I was able to apply my experience directly to my project work. The two areas were perfectly
coordinated: The topics that the professors developed with us were reflected in my work at the company, and I could
apply the knowledge I gained in the classroom in my day-to-day work.“
Teresa KieferStudent of the Master in Management & Innovation – TUM Track
“The Heilbronn site is a hidden jewel. I especially enjoyed the German Federal Garden Show,
which is great for relaxing. The Campus itself is very modern and offers well-equipped lecture halls. The classes are
like seminars: we can ask questions and discuss our ideas with each other and with the lecturers. This is unlike any-
thing I have experienced in my studies before. Studying in a multicultural, international environment has helped me to
understand management and innovation much better. I have been able to combine what I have learned here at TUM
with my previous professional experience to create value for others.“
Ange OuStudent of the Master in Management & Innovation – TUM Track
„I did the Double Degree Master in Management & Innovation at TUM in Munich and the
HEC in Paris. In Paris the majority of students live on campus, which creates a sense of community and means you
have great opportunities to network and make friends with business students from around the world. In Munich, on
the other hand, TUM students generally don‘t live on campus, but that meant that I could connect with students not
studying business, such as engineers, computer scientists and natural scientists. One of the coolest things about the
TUM campus is UnternehmerTUM in Garching, an entrepreneurship center that offers everything you need to carry
out a project, including financing, office space and the Maker Space, a high-tech workshop where you can build
prototypes using 3D printers, for example.“
