Throughout her twenty-five year career in the field of development, Andrea Wasserman has proven to be an innovative and effective leader who brings a pervasive sense of joy to the art and science of organizational and development strategy to achieve social benefit. As Founder and President of Social Profit Ventures, a boutique organizational development firm, Andrea designs and executes successful strategic planning and fundraising strategies, engages executives and their leadership teams, and delivers an expansive array of leadership coaching, skill trainings, and interactive learning opportunities. Prior to launching Social Profit Ventures, Andrea served as Chief Development Officer at BBYO, Inc. and led the development team at Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School. Learn the essential ingredients for a robust and sustainable fundraising program that will begin with a “true north” that will guide your journey. Proficiency acquired along the way will include: building a strong culture of philanthropy; engaging an inspired lay and professional campaign team; enriching and cultivating a promising donor pipeline; marketing a menu of compelling philanthropic investment opportunities that align with both your donors’ interests and your organization’s aspirational vision, mission, and values. Each class will culminate with an interview with a giant in the field of philanthropy who has successfully transformed his/her organization through ingenuity and skill in financial resource development. Office hours will be offered to supplement each class with customized guidance and coaching. Matthew Grossman has served as BBYO’s Chief Executive Officer since 2004 and is currently responsible for working with the organization’s teen, profession-al, volunteer and philanthropic leaders to set BBYO’s vision and direction. For more than 90 years, BBYO has provided exceptional identity enrichment and leadership development experiences for hundreds of thousands of teens and now ranks as one of the Jewish community’s premier platforms for reaching and inspiring Jewish teens. Matt takes great pride in BBYO’s ability to bring Jewish teens together so they can form powerful, authentic relationships with each oth-er and with inspiring adult role models. He plays a key role in hiring the profes-sional team who bring to life the compelling Jewish environments where teens feel pride in who they are, in control of their own destiny and a part of something greater than themselves. With the guidance and mentoring of BBYO’s Board of Directors, Matt has helped grow BBYO’s budget three-fold, expand AZA and BBG membership to over 20,000 teens annually all while ensuring that appropri-ate systems and financial controls are in place to support BBYO’s fast growing infrastructure. Prior to BBYO, Matt worked for Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life, playing a key role in the organization’s decade-long renaissance. Matt grew up in Cheshire, a small town in central Connecticut and currently lives with his wife Melissa, daughter Olivia, and son Gabriel in Arlington, VA.

Riva Silverman recently joined the URJ as the Vice President for Philan-thropy. She has worked in the non-profit and philanthropy sectors for nearly 30 years and has held senior leadership positions at the New Israel Fund, American Jewish World Service and, most recently, HIAS.

Each class will culminate with an interview with an exceptional practitioner.

November 1, Lesley Matsa Program Officer For Jewish Giving, Crown Family Philanthropies

November 15, Meredith DragonCEO, Jewish Federation Of Greater Rochester

Lesley Matsa is Program Officer for Jewish Giving at the Crown FamilyPhilanthropies. Her prior work experience includes strategic planning for non-profit organizations as a Consultant at Wellspring Consulting, management consulting work in the for-profit sector, and serving as Program Coordinator at UC Berkeley Hillel. Lesley holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a Bachelors degree with highest honors from the University of California, Berkeley. Lesley is a recipient of the JJ Greenberg Award for extraordinary leadership in Jewish philanthropy, and is a Wexner Field Fellow.

Meredith Dragon became CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester in April of 2016. She served from 2009 to 2016 as Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts. Prior to that Meredith was the Assistant Director at the Jewish Federation of Jacksonville, FL for 13 years. Meredith lived and worked in Israel at the beginning of her career for Britain’s Joint Israel Appeal.

During her time with Federation, Meredith has worked on bringing donors, agencies, synagogues, and institutions together for the greater good of the Jewish community. Increasing awareness and support for the work of Federation and its various departments and enhancing the role of Federation in the community motivates her professionally and personally.

Meredith is married to Ze’ev and is the very proud mother of three boys, Matan, Ori and Etai.

Each class will culminate with an interview with an exceptional practitioner.
