The idea of wellness simply puts the

responsibility of your health back into your hands - where it belongs. You are

responsible for making very basic decisions for

your long-term health care.

Wellness and Massage

The good thing about massage is it’s simplicity - you don't have to do anything

and you still get a wonderful benefit.

Well ok, you do have to make the appointment and show up - but I do the

work - you reap the benefits.

What better way to help you stay healthy?

Benefits of Massage Therapy

Muscular systemCirculatory systemDigestive systemLymphatic systemIntegumentary systemNervous system

Page 6: Massage Therapy Blue Updated 8012011

Muscular System

Relaxes tight, contracted muscles. Helps remove toxins from muscles.Restores memory to over worked, shortened muscles.

Page 7: Massage Therapy Blue Updated 8012011

Circulatory System

Massage therapy releases contracted muscles and pushes venous blood towards the heart, easing the strain on the heart. This also helps bring nutrients to the cells and carries away metabolic waste products that can make you feel listless and drained. And regular massage can help to normalize your blood pressure.

Digestive System

Increases peristalsis (abdominal massage).Enabling your digestive system to work more efficiently.

Page 9: Massage Therapy Blue Updated 8012011

Lymphatic System

Increases blood circulation.Increases lymph flow, the metabolic waste from your cells to cleanse your muscles and organs of the natural by-product of daily living. This helps to ward off infection and heal injuries.

Page 10: Massage Therapy Blue Updated 8012011

Integumentary System (Skin)

Improves skin tone.Reduces scarring.Reduces swelling of injured tissues.

Skin is the largest organ in the body and the most abused.

Nervous System

Contracted muscles can press on or pinch your nerves causing tingling, numbness, or pain. Massage therapy relaxes these contracted muscles to relieve the compression on your nerves. Sensory receptors in the skin and muscles "wake up" bringing new awareness to areas that have felt "cut off" by chronic tension patterns.

Regular massage will help you to maintain a more healthy body, and reduces the stress that most people have in their lives, and that is what wellness is all about.

Page 13: Massage Therapy Blue Updated 8012011

Massage reduces stress, just ask anyone who has enjoyed a massage. They will tell you that they left feeling relaxed and refreshed. To get the most benefit from massage you should have one on a regular basis. For those of you who are regular with massage (at least once per month) I congratulate you, for those who aren't - I encourage you to take an active role in you health and start now by signing up to get your next massage today.

How Often Should I Get a Massage?

I recommend at least once a month for general health benefits. If you wait much longer than that you will not get as much accumulative benefit from it: each visit builds on the one before. For injuries I will recommend more frequent visits tailored to your individual situation.

You can come as often as you want – weekly, bi-weekly, monthly.
