Dear brothers and sisters of St. Agatha, the chills in the mornings and nights remind us that we do have seasons in Southern California. The rain last weekend (what a spectacular light and sound show that was!) seem to have cleared much of the smog in the air, and made the hills of the area appear closer to us. Do you know where the word "mass" (or "misa" in Spanish) comes from? It comes from the concluding words of the presider at the end of the Mass in Latin, "Ite, missa est," which means "Go, it [the assembly] is dismissed." Pope Benedict XVI saw more in those words and said, "In antiquity, "missa" simply meant 'dismissal'. In Christian usage, however, it gradually took on a deeper meaning. The word 'dismissal' has come to imply a 'mission'. These few words succinctly express the missionary nature of the Church". In oth-er words, our mass concludes by the exhortation, "Go now, you are sent on a mission." When we say "I am going to Mass," we are saying "I am going to receive a mission." What is our mission we receive at every Mass? It is of course to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone. This weekend the Church celebrates World Mission Sunday when all the faithful around the world recom-mit ourselves to the Church's missions. I hope that you use the envelope stapled to your bulletin to show your support and be part of the Church's global out-reach. This Sunday (and every Sunday) is a reminder that we are called to be missionaries by virtue of our baptism. The call of God is not an order, but a voice of love that stirs our hearts, in such a way that we are compelled to go out and become witnesses to what we are privileged to experience ourselves. Mass is exact-ly that privileged experience of God's love. When we are in love, we cannot keep it to ourselves. So, brothers and sisters, let us go in peace and contin-ue our mission of loving and serving the Lord in each other.
‑‑ Father Anthony
-- Padre Antonio

THE POWER FROM AND OF PRAYER
By Sophia Jane Berkley
Dedicated to my fellow St. Agatha Parishioners in appreciation for their continuous,
unceasing support and prayers.
The Power From Prayer, Of someone who cares
Can only be felt, it can never by seen
It can only be felt, like a gut wrenching dream
Like the spirit of right, that springs forth from something that was wrong.
From something that was all wrong, and, perhaps,
even, long ago gone
The Power From Prayer, glides through the
Spiritual Air
And fully pays our Spiritual Blessings Fare
Like the unexpected downward
spiraling carousel scream
The Power From Prayer is of a God Supreme
The Power From Prayer has no schemes
It kicks late inning, game decisive field goals, for the Holy Master’s Team
The Power From Prayer
Shifts the scales of Hope from bloody vomit screams,
to honey sweet dreams.
The connective Power From Prayer does not rest in a reclining chair dome.
It slumbers, stumbles, and often can be found groveling at the foot of the Throne.
So today, my friends
I wish for you, I pray for you
To experience the Power From and Of Prayer
That will Bless your needs, erase your fears,
heal your heart
And grant you an ever present, limitless extension of God’s Love, Full Blown.
May God Bless You Forever and Always.

“NOBODY CAN DO EVERYTHING BUT
EVERYBODY CAN DO SOMETHING.”
THANK YOU,
Matt and the English Lectors for the donation of the entire meal for our guests. God held back the rain and our guests were able to come and enjoy the delicious meal you blessed them with. Their facial expression shows their gratitude. You know that expression of joy you see on faces when they are happy and pleased with something? That's what they had Saturday. Thanks for being their blessing!!! Amen.
Saturday, October 27 is the next open date when the S.H.A.R.E. Ministry is in need of sandwich-es for the Saturday Meal Pro-gram. If you are able to donate a portion of the 180 sandwiches needed please call the Pastoral Center Office.
The Christmas Dinner is right around the corner, with this comes our request and need of support from you, our church family. We began our Penny Jar donation request last Sunday.
Today we will be adding the request list and empty bags for canned food and nonperishable donations. We will be distrib-uting them from the table behind the church. The groceries are bagged for distribution to our guests during the dinner on Christmas Day. We would like to make a special request, cans that have pull top lids for the bags of those guests that are homeless. It's pretty hard for them to open the cans with no can openers and most store own-ers will not allow them to use theirs. So please if you are able purchase some of the cans with pull top lids. Please note this is not on the request for can food donations. If you wish, maybe you can consider organizing a food drive in your work place or in your neighborhood.
Does anyone have a contact for a ticket donor for a 3 movie, sporting event, amusement park admission or fast food restaurant gift certificates for us to use in the Annual Holiday Boutique Raffle 3 on Sunday December 2, 2018? We would appreciate it if you could please call the Pasto-ral Center Office and share this
information with us so we can contact them for support.
We have a few openings for participants who make HAND-CRAFT ITEMS for our Bou-tique on December 2, 2018. PLEASE NOTE, NO food sales, raffles or used item sales are being accepted for this event. For more information please contact Margie Nickle-berry at 323-935-8127.
PLEASE NOTE: The closing date to apply for participation is November 1, 2018.
The Power of Prayer written and read from the altar by Sophia Berkley on Sunday, really touched the soul and stimulated hope. Her writing made a lot of us reflect back on the times that God has come to our aid and rescue in times of need or trou-ble, and because somebody prayed for and with us, we came through ALRIGHT/ UN-HARMED AND SHINNING LIKE THE NOON DAY SUN. Amen. When it's over, sometimes we forget to stop and give praise, show gratitude and spread the word of these God sent blessings. We ask God, he delivers and we go on to the next
whatever's, forgetting the bless-ing and not remembering that God blessed us so we too could be a blessing for someone in need. SOPHIA DIDN'T FOR-GET HER BLESSING, SHE PASSED IT ON TO US IN HER MESSAGE " THE POWER OF PRAYER".
Faith, hope and prayer can move that mountain we are carrying and change hearts and old worn out habits that may be in the way of blessings. Your smile is a blessing give it away, don't hold on to it, someone needs it!!!!!! Amen.
Family, continue to be blessed and be a blessings, as you en-courage everyone you meet dur-ing your journey to storm heav-en with prayers for unity and peace everywhere on this earth. Amen.
Blessings,
