THE PASCHAL TRIDUUM - April 18-21 Praying in the Paschal Tridu-um, the Easter Three Days. The very heart of the liturgical year is from Holy Thursday even-ing through Good Friday and Holy Saturday to Easter Sunday beginning in the night and spilling into the day. We want to, we need to be present and active for each liturgy these days. Jesus Christ, who did something so totally new by defying death, is with us now and always. Let us mold ourselves to him. Let us come and pray with others.

Pastor’s Corner Fr. Jim Murphy
“Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised
just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay” (Matthew 28:5-6).
Do not be afraid…. For three days crea-tion groaned and ached, mourning God’s si-lence. We waited in the darkness, which came over the earth on Good Friday. Three women come at dawn, daring to approach the guarded tomb, intending to anoint a corpse.
“Why do you seek the living One among
the dead? He is not here, but has been raised. Remember what he said to you while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners and be crucified, and rise on the third day” (Luke 24:5-7).
Remember what he said…. And sudden-ly the Lord’s words returned to them just as the sun made its appearance that morning.
“Behold the place where they laid him. But go and tell his disciples….” (Mark 16:6-7). Darkness is shattered by light. Despair is replaced with hope. Sin is made powerless through reconciliation. Death is conquered

by Life. And now in our day, a long cold winter finally gives way to spring. Lent has given way to Easter. Life is slowly returning to the earth. Through the Cross, death has been defeated forever.
We have spent 40 days in prayer, fasting and almsgiving. We have spent 40 days preparing to renew our Baptism commit-ment, which we do today in place of the Creed. We have prayerfully commemorated and mourned the Death of the Lord, taken time to enter into this great mystery. It is time to rejoice and celebrate the greatest mystery of our faith. Death is not the end, but a trans-formation. It is a rebirth, the final step into the fullness of life with God. And now we spend the next 50 days (the 40 days of Lent plus 10) celebrating God’s tremendous gift of love and Life.
For the present, this first week of the Easter Season, commonly called the Octave of Easter, is treated as one single Easter Day stretched out over the first eight days of the season. The daily Masses are celebrated with the same enthusiasm as Easter Sun-day. The daily Gospels are all various accounts of the Resurrec-tion, taken from each of the four Gospels. Next Sunday’s Gospel, the Octave of Easter, will situate us on Easter Sunday evening. It is fitting that we begin this season of the Church year with such enthu-siasm. The fasting is over. It is time to come to the Feast.
Congratulations and welcome to all the newly-initiated mem-bers of our community – those who were Baptized, Confirmed and received First Eucharist at the Easter Vigil. We have been pray-ing for them since they took the first steps in the RCIA process last

fall. It is great to celebrate their full initiation into our church family. Special thanks go to our RCIA team for their faithful efforts in personally sharing their faith and prepar-ing these men and women to take these steps in their lives.
Thank you to all who helped make our observance of Lent and the celebration of the Easter Triduum so prayer-ful. Father Rey, Father Juan Jose, Karen Stefanic and Sue Entwistle coordinated our efforts. The Art and Environ-ment Committee led by Doro-thy Jaskey guided us in the different seasons through their attention to the atmos-phere in our worship spaces. Their faithful work behind the scenes has contributed much to the tone of our cele-brations. Thank you to all of our music ministers – Karen Stefanic, our Director of Mu-sic, to our musicians, choir members and cantors. Your hours of preparation and re-hearsal bore fruit in your leading us in song throughout all of the different observanc-es and celebrations. Thank you to our Lectors who pro-claimed God’s Word with faith and conviction. Thank you to our Deacons, Altar Servers and Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist who assisted at the altar. Thank you to our Knights of Columbus who served in our parking lot last Sunday in the snow and slush and today in more favorable weather, and who provided an Honor Guard on Holy Thursday night. And finally, thank you to all of you, the faith-filled

Discussions led by Fr. Rey Treyes Each one of us is called to discover our own unique way to grow in holiness whether it be as a parent, spouse, babysitter, beautician, bartender, or businessperson. One of us into the person God calls us to be, with segments focused on:

people of St. Isidore parish. As we joined together in our community prayer throughout these past weeks, we encouraged and supported each other in ways we will never know.
As this is my first Pastor’s Corner since my hospitalization and surgery for the infection in my leg, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to you all for your prayers and good wishes. Recov-ery has been and continues to be slow. I continue to receive antibiotic treat-ment through out-patient care at Cen-tral DuPage Hospital. Your support and prayers have and continue to mean much.
Finally, last week we were very happy to announce that Mrs. Corie Alimento will serve as the next princi-pal of St. Isidore School, beginning July 1, 2019. She along with her hus-band, Mike, and family are parishion-ers. She previously taught in our school and has recently served as prin-cipal at St. Paul’s School in Joliet and Holy Family School in Bensenville. We are blessed to be able to welcome her home to St. Isidore School.
Have a blessed Easter! Notice the different ways in which God is trans-forming death into life all around us. Look for ways to celebrate God’s gift of life among us. May God continue to bless us with everything that we need, and more.

All are welcome! All are welcome! All are welcome! Wanting to make St. Isidore your faith home? Stop by the Parish Office to register yourself (and your family). Being a registered parishioner makes it easier to complete sacraments here (baptism and faith formation for yourself or your children, and marriage), as well as meeting requirements to be a godparent. It is also a great way to stay well informed of happenings in your faith community.
Already registered....are you sure?Already registered....are you sure?Already registered....are you sure? Do you receive any mail from St. Isidore? Did you sign up for offering envelopes, if so are you still receiving them? Have you recently moved and still have your old address on file? Be sure to check with the Parish Office, that you are still active in our system and that we have your most up-to-date information (family members, phone numbers, address, sacraments, etc.). The only ways we know that you are an active member are: 1. if you are a recognized giver (using your name). 2. if you are involved in a ministry, 3. or if you return the annual status letters mailed out to the address we have in our system.
Young AdultsYoung AdultsYoung Adults
Oftentimes young adults think they are registered parishioners, when in fact they are registered through their parents. If you are a young adult over the age of 21, please register with the parish in your own name.
If you are not registered, or are listed as inactive, If you are not registered, or are listed as inactive, If you are not registered, or are listed as inactive, you will not be able to register your children for sacramental classes, reserve dates for sacraments (baptism, marriage), be a godparent or have a form signed to be a godparent. Please stop in the Parish Office to find out how to become a registered parishioner of St. Isidore.
Filipino Mass
NEXT Sunday, April 28 5:00 pm, Chapel
We invite you to celebrate the Filipino Mass every last Sunday of the month.
A BIG “THANK YOU” from your Music Director: Thank you to all Music Ministers for your time and commitment to the many rehearsals leading up to the 3-night Triduum celebration and Easter Sunday. I appreciated the attention to detail that you each took to prepare your individual music binders. An extra special thank you to the sound team who always work so diligently to attend to the needs and maintenance of the sound system and lighting. Because it’s important to be with family on these special holidays, your sacrifice to serve the assembly by sharing your time
and song in praise of the Lord was truly a sign of your commitment to the meaning of Christian ministry.
Thank you also to our Children’s Choir Director, students and parents who made the com-mitment to serve at our liturgies for this most holy season with your joyful voices.
Thank you to the Art and Environment team. Once again, you transformed our worship spaces with beautiful and appropriate enhancements to reflect the holy season and liturgical themes. The liturgical ministers who are called to serve as lectors, altar servers, and hospitality/usher ministers are so important to all our liturgies. Thank you all for your participation and support of each other’s roles.
May you all receive the many blessings that come with springtime and new life in Christ.
Sincerely, Karen Stefanic
