Stewardship Commission

Stewardship Report

As individuals we are called to be good and generous stewards with God’s manifold gifts. Tithing is the means whereby we have the opportunity to give thanks to God; with that in mind, the community of St. Teresa of Avila tithes $450 weekly.

This week our titling will be donated to Reins of Life Therapeutic Horseback Riding.

Their mission is to improve the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities through equine-assisted therapy.

These are difficult questions to discuss in our culture. We live in a society that supports the opinion that each person should make up his or her own morality—that there is no moral truth that applies to everyone. Many of us have been affected by the relativistic outlook that pervades the modern world.

Maybe some of us wonder whether there really is an absolute right and wrong for everyone.? In this video series featuring the work of Edward Sri, we'll explore the classi-cal view of morality and find that it’s not merely a set of guiding principles for theoretical situations—it is an en-tire way of life. Group discussion will follow the video.

Amount The last weekend to donate will be September 29-30. If you have any questions or are interested in walking with our team, please contact Chris O’Connor at 219-405-9519 or [email protected].

Hunger exists in every community across the region. Since 1982, the Foodbank of Northwest

Indiana has been distributing more than 4.5 million meals each year to families in Porter and Lake Counties. They are proud to present

the 2018 Hunger Hike which is a family-friendly walk/run event with proceeds being used to

stock the shelves of local food pantries and soup kitchens.

As an added bonus, the Foodbank has agreed to match dollar for dollar all money raised by St. Teresa’s from this event and give it back as

credit to be used for Café Manna!

Not only is your $1 providing up to three meals to our neighbors in need, it is also benefiting our own soup kitchen!

If you would like to give to this wonderful cause, here’s how you can donate:

1. Follow the website instructions to the right.

2. Place your donation in a SEPARATE envelope labeled Hunger Hike and drop it

off at the office or put it in the weekly collection.
