FAZtor ’s Notes By Fr. Arnold Zamora Christmas Day is done, but not gone. Christmas is a season, not just a day. In fact, Christmas should be celebrated every day. So, we continue to celebrate

the joy that this season brings – God’s greatest gift to us, the gift of salvation, the gift of love, the gift of Jesus. People are coming home for the holidays to be with old friends, and more importantly and especially to be with their families. Thanksgiving and Christmas are special times to be with your family. God knows the importance of family and that’s why God was born into a family, making every family sacred. We are celebrating the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph this Sunday. With Jesus, the Holy Family is now complete and if Jesus is always the center of the family, we will find completeness in our own family. The problems sometimes come when we make ourselves the center of the family. Family when pronounced sounds like the center is -“ME” (Fa-me-elee). Selfishness always ruins the family. This reminds me of a story about a mother who saw her teenage child crying in her room one Christmas morning. When she asked her why, the child’s reply was: “I’m homesick, Mom.” “But you’re home,” said the mother. “That’s why. I’m sick of our home” was the teenager’s reply. Selfish people don’t know how to sacrifice. A family with Jesus as the center knows how to sacrifice and give unselfishly. By the way, the word “parent” when pronounced sounds like “pay rent.” My friend, Father Jerry Orbos, noted that if service is our rent for be-ing in this world, then parents would do well to remember that all their efforts and sacrifices spent in raising a good family is their rent paid to the world. F.A.M.I.L.Y. means Father And Mother I Love You. To be-come a Holy Family like the one of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, it needs S.S.S. – members with Sincerity, Service and Sacrifice. That’s all related to the concept of “Stewardship” – a way of life that our parish will journey into during this next year with the help of Catholic Stewardship Consultants, a Christ-centered consulting firm that provides customized stewardship services to Catholic parishes. I am excited to begin this process to help revitalize our parish. So I am looking forward to the New Year 2016, just few days from today.

How do you know that your children are growing up?

Answer: When instead of asking you where they came from, they start refusing to tell you where they are going or where they are coming from.

WALK FOR LIFE WEST COAST Join fellow Catholics and Pro-Lifers from all over California and be-yond as we stand up for the littlest among us at the 12th Annual Walk for Life West Coast in San Francisco on January 23, 2016. The pre-walk rally begins at 12:30 PM in San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza, and the walk down the city’s Market Street begins at 1:30 PM. Last year’s Walk drew 50,000+ people. This year we are honored to wel-come Latin American music legend Emmanuel, all the way from Mexi-co, as one of our speakers.
