We know that Lent is a time for us to deepen our relationship with God. Today’s gospel reading relating to the Transfiguration of Jesus is a big moment in the life of Jesus. He is seen by his disciples in all His glory talking with Elijah and Moses. A few of the disciples are with Jesus, but they do not yet have a full understanding of what is taking place. Because
they have a relationship with Jesus, they are invited to witness this revelation. It won’t be until later after journeying with Jesus, through his passion and resurrection, that they will have a full understanding of the significance of the Transfiguration. It will only come as their faith in Jesus deepens that they will gain a full understanding of what they have witnessed. Likewise, we can’t have a real understanding of the big moment in the glory of the Transfiguration of Jesus until we have established a deeper relationship with him. Lent is a time for us to be open to growing in our relationship and so see the ways through which God brings us to salvation. Most of our time with God may be at church, but that relationship should be built in several ways by recognizing that God is continually present to us and continually invites us into a deeper relationship wherever we may be. This invitation can be present to us in many ways and can be as simply as sitting down and gazing into the nights sky. All we have to do is open our eyes. We don’t have to be at the Transfiguration each and every day to say that we know God. Rather we can see God in many other ways that allow us to partake in God’s work in the here and now. Blessings, Deacon Joe Smith

United in Faith, Honoring our Past, Shaping our Future!
UPDATE
Schedule – Weather Permitting
The weather continues to offer up challenges to the construction crew with the snowstorm last weekend and rain showers throughout the week last week. We can expect the roof to be completed and begin heating the structure this week to remove the frost. Once the structure is enclosed, there will be more control over the schedule!
The kitchen sub committee met last week to review the plans for the future kitchen to ensure electrical, gas and sewer are in place so that when funds become available to complete the next phase of the project we will be ready to go.
How Can You Help?
As you know, funding for office and conference room furniture, maintenance equipment, landscaping, phone system, security system and sound system was not included in the project costs. To that end, a list of items needed can be found on the website www.mqpcatholic.org and will be updated as needed. Please contact Carol Lutgen, Business Administrator at [email protected] if you have goods /services that you would like to donate.

Please come and enjoy a great breakfast and support this important ministry. All money raised will support the
Faith Formation Program at Mary Queen of Peace.
Funeral Luncheon Set Up
Volunteers are Needed!
We are in need of volunteers for set up only of tables and chairs in St. Martin Hall for the occasional funeral at Mary Queen of Peace. This is a great opportunity for busy families, working adults, and students who would like to share their gift of time for our parish community, but don't have a lot of it! CONFIRMATION STUDENTS! This is a great opportunity to earn Confirmation hours! NOTE: To ensure compliance with the Safe Environment Policies, children must be accompanied by parent(s) at all times.
Ideally, we'd like to have a pool of people we could contact 3-4 days before a funeral - the more people that can help, the less time it will take -- and you're bound to meet some great people! You would be asked to set up tables and chairs the afternoon/evening before the funeral. Members of the Funeral Committee will be on hand to provide instruction. If you would be interested in signing up for this ministry, please contact Mary LeClaire at
[email protected] or 612-990-5086. Thank you for responding to God's call to serve His Kingdom!
