Interviewed and quoted in Social Work Today, July/August 2011, A Decade of

Social Work Today- 10 trends that transformed social work, “Web-Based Social

Work Education.”

The Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and

Human Services recognized the MSW online program in the Child Welfare

Information Gateway, Children’s Bureau Express, “Online Degree Program

Helps Rural Social Workers,” September 2008.

Senator Judith Zaffirini recognized the Rural Distance Education Program at

the Summer Commencement, August 2008.

Under the direction of Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Debbie

Thorne, Texas State engaged in a self-study of online courses and programs

of the University. The self-study, the Sloan-C Quality Scorecard for the

Administration of Online Programs, measured quality of online courses and

programs, and helped to support program improvement and strategic planning.

The Quality Scorecard may also be used to demonstrate to the Southern

Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), Texas State’s accrediting body, the

elements of quality within our online courses and programs. Each component of

the study was divided into several categories. I collected data regarding the

quality of faculty support for online teaching then summarized the findings on

several reports according to the specific area researched. November 2012.

Texas State University website recognized the School of Social Work on-line
