South southwest wind 5 to 15 mph. Steven Jobe, 63, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 in Amarillo. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 4:00 pm in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Mr. Jackie Etheridge and Deacon Bob Birkenfeld officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Steven was born on April 3, 1955 in Tulia to Lonnie and Anita Jobe. He grew up in Tulia and was a jack of all trades. He spent much of his life driving trucks, working on farms and ranches. He especially loved his time at the Cogdell Ranch. Steven had a love for the outdoors, Harleys and shooting guns. He also enjoyed taking his dogs Molly, Max and Sweet Pea to Mackenzie Lake to swim. Uncle Steven loved spending time with his many nieces and nephews, Johnny Gayler, Cameron Nobile, Hailey Barber, Stanton Wethington, Chris Williams, Tanya Ethridge, Carie Crow, Devin, Ross and Case Keeter, Erica Barnes, April Light and Jason Bell and all their children. He enjoyed watching his nephews play baseball. He will be remembered for his love of laughter and having a good time. Big hugs and big heart that was Steven. He is preceded in death by his father; Lonnie Jobe, two brothers in law; Johnny Gayler and David Nobile. He is survived by his mother; Anita Jobe, one brother; Allen Jobe & wife Bonnie of Amarillo, two sisters; Teresa Wethington & husband Tommy of Nazareth and Velaunda Keeter & husband Jerry of Canyon, 12 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations to your favorite charity would be appreciated. Marilyn Faye O'Daniel, 88, of Tulia, Texas passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in Brownfield, Texas. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18th at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 19th at First Baptist Church, Tulia with Charles Davenport officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Tulia. Marilyn was born in Lubbock, Texas on Oct 28, 1929 to Herbert “H.M.” and Myrtle “Merle” Chick. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1946 and attended Texas Tech University. Marilyn married James Ross O’Daniel on June 17, 1950 in Lubbock and were together for over 64 years.

Steven Jobe, 63, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 in Amarillo. A

memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 4:00 pm in the

Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Mr. Jackie Etheridge and

Steven was born on April 3, 1955 in Tulia to Lonnie and Anita Jobe. He

grew up in Tulia and was a jack of all trades. He spent much of his life

Marilyn Faye O'Daniel, 88, of Tulia, Texas passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in Brownfield, Texas.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18th at Kornerstone

Funeral Directors in Tulia. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July

19th at First Baptist Church, Tulia with Charles Davenport officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Tulia.

Marilyn was born in Lubbock, Texas on Oct 28, 1929 to Herbert “H.M.”

and Myrtle “Merle” Chick. She graduated from Lubbock High School in

1946 and attended Texas Tech University. Marilyn married James Ross

O’Daniel on June 17, 1950 in Lubbock and were together for over 64

years.

Marilyn established a home west of Tulia where she worked hard as a homemaker and mother of three

sons. She was active in the First Baptist Church, Home Artist Club, Red Hat Club, and Sunshine Girls.

Her talents included cooking for family and friends, gardening, arts and crafts, and selflessly

volunteering to help those in need.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother Ruth Chick, and her husband Ross.

Marilyn is survived by her sister Sharon Cobb and husband Ken of Rowlett, Texas; her three sons--Dale

and wife Charlotte of Tulia, Pat and wife Mary Jane of Brownfield, Gary and wife Angela of Clovis; five

grandchildren--Aarika Proctor and husband Russell of Tulia, Ryan O'Daniel and wife Angela of

Herndon, Virginia, Sarah Wysocki and husband Jared of Shelby Township, Michigan, Quinn O'Daniel

and wife Hailey of Las Cruces, and Ashlyn O'Daniel of Clovis; two great grandchildren--Mikayla and

Breck Proctor of Tulia; and a host of other relatives and longtime friends.

The family suggests memorials be made to the charity of your choice.

Guadalupe D. Benavidez, 81, passed away on Tuesday, July 10,

2018 in Tulia. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday,

July 13, 2018 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with

Pastor Joe Gonzales, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill

Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

A rosary will be held at 5:30 to 7:30 PM Thursday, July 12, 2018 at

the funeral home.

Guadalupe was born on September 19, 1936 in Guss, Texas to

Refugio and Carlota Benavidez. He has lived in Tulia since 1962 and

married the love of his life Erminia Victoria Pacheco on May 26, 1958 in Lubbock. Texas.

Guadalupe worked at Excel Corporation for 28 years in Plainview, Texas. He loved his roosters,

music, fishing and he had a nickname for everyone in his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Refugio and Carlota Benavidez, two brothers; Mike

Benavidez and Moses Gonzales.

He is survived by his wife; Erminia Victoria Benavidez of Tulia, his children; Dolores Vela of

Lubbock, Refugio Benavidez of Clarendon, JoAnn Salazar of Tulia, Angie Briones of Tulia,

Guadalupe Benavidez, Jr. of Conway, Victoria Maria Gonzales of Ft. Worth, Raquel Benavidez of

Dallas, Eliza Velen Benavidez of Tulia, Amelio Benavidez of Tulia and Merejilda Maldonado of

Tulia, his brothers; Frank Herrera, Tony Herrera and Lupe Herrera, his two sisters; Minga

Herrera and Trinidad Benavidez; 42 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 11 great, great

grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Open Heart Hospice, 508 N Taylor St, Amarillo, TX 79107.

The Aaron Ross Memorial Scholarship Finish the Ride is this Saturday, July

14th. There is a new 5K walk, run, or ride course this year. It is a family friendly

course for all ages and ability levels. It is fully supported by law enforcement and

2 rest stops along the way. Onsite registration is available starting at 7 am at the

High School cafeteria. Bike ride starts at 8 AM and 5K starts at 8:30. T-shirt and

lunch provided for participants. Adult 5K course: $20, Kids (12 and under): $10.

Bike course 27, 45 and 65 miles: $30.

Swisher County Picnic 2018 will be here before we know it.

will still be held at Conner Park

where it has always been held.

1956 THS CLASS REUNION

The Class of 1956 meet at 11 a.m. at Conner Park for the barbeque

lunch. Following lunch, we meet at the Gaylor Room in the Swisher Memorial

Building for visiting. Friends are invited to stop by. Dinner at the El Camino at

5 p.m. This is the 62nd class anniversary!

T.H.S. CLASS OF 1958 REUNION

Following the Parade, we will begin to gather at Conner Park where we will participate in the

noon barbecue in the covered area. We will remain at the park in a gathering area until later

in the afternoon. Friends are encouraged to stop by and visit; look for our sign. Beginning at

4:00 p.m. we gather in the fellowship hall at the Central Church of Christ, 300 N.

Donley. Friends should come and visit with us into the evening. A group photo will be made

at 5:00 p.m. Photos may be ordered from Patrice Sims. Dinner is at 5:30.

T.H.S. CLASS OF 1983 35th REUNION

Friday, July 20th, 7pm - Pre-reunion get-together at the home of Chris & Kym Sperry (531 NE

3rd.). Smoked brisket & non-alcoholic beverages provided. BYOB. Locals please bring your favorite

side dish, and don't forget your lawn chair.

Saturday, July 21st, 9am - Meet at the high school parking lot to board the parade float. Please wear

your reunion t-shirt & bring candy to toss to the kids along the parade route. Following the parade,

we will gather at Conner Park where classmates may visit & enjoy the noon barbecue if they so

choose or they may stay on the float to hitch a ride back to the high school.

Saturday, July 21st, 7pm - Dinner/Reunion at the home of Angie & Mitch Martin (47 Fannin

Dr.). Friends should come and visit with us into the evening. Non-alcoholic beverages provided.

T.H.S. CLASS OF 1988 30 YEAR REUNION

Friday, July 20th, 7pm at the Tulia Country Club. Ya’ll Come!
