Student Volunteer Our student volunteer is Tanner McDonnell. Tanner helps keep students from pulling and hanging on the branches of our beautiful Japanese Maple in the front of the school office. Kids Auction Do you have unused toys leftover from the holidays? Have any unwrapped electronics? We need new toys, games, electronics, dolls, books or other kid’s favorites to raffle for our Kids Auction at the Art & Music Festival. Donations can be left in the School Office marked “Kids Auction.” Thank you!!!

Auction & Dinner The DREAM Auction & Dinner will be held on Saturday, May 17th at La Sierra. The Auction is always our biggest fundraiser of the year and all proceeds from the Auction pays for education & arts programs at Deterding. (teacher salaries, field-trips, art supplies, assemblies, instruments, choir, and more) throughout the school year. Support for the Auction is critical to Deterding’s unique programs and success. If you can’t attend, please consider buying a ticket for someone who can or make a donation, big or small. Coffee & Treats Meet-Up

The first Friday of every month we have a “Parent Meet-Up,” sponsored by DREAM at the blue tables. Come get acquainted! Our next “Meet-Up” is May 2nd at 7:50 AM. Join the fun and make new friendships while supporting our students! Learn more about our upcoming events.

Summer Only Discovery Club

San Juan’s “Summer Only” Discovery Club is a child care and enrichment program for children K through 6th grade. Our highest priority is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn, grow, and have fun. Discovery Club is staffed by teachers who are certified as Child Development Permit teachers. Discovery Club is in session from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. "Let's Discover Why" is our summer theme. Activities will include science, art, literature, math, and outdoor games. Don't miss out! Fees range from $214 to $602 per month. For more information or to enroll your child, call 971-5975. Registration for Early Childhood Education

San Juan Unified School District is now registering children for Free and Reduced Fee Preschool for the 2014-2015 school year. Full day, part day and infant-toddler programs are available. Please call 979-8760 for requirements and to schedule an appointment. (Full fee programs are also available.)

K-3 Dance Show DREAM presents the K-3 “Songs of Summer” Dance Show on Tuesday, May 27th with special guests, the 4-6 Dance Team at Arcade Church, 3927 Marconi Ave. at 7:00 PM. Tickets will be $3 each. Stay tuned – more information will be coming soon.

BASKET IDEAS for Silent Auction(Items to include in all baskets are suggestions only; you can always add more or add a similar item to the basket.

No Assembly Required! Our basket coordinators will assemble and wrap all baskets for you.)

1) Garden Basket: Small shovels, watering can, trowels, seeds, 2-3 potted plants (plants already in a small pot), knee pads,

watering can, outdoor gloves, seeds - put all of this into a small gardening wagon.

2) Beach Basket: Beach towel, 2-3 bottles of various sunscreen, sand tools (to make castles), 2 pair sunglasses (male/female), 2

pair kiddie sunglasses, beach umbrella, - put all of this into a large plastic carrying tote.

3) Kiddie Reading Basket: Assortment of KIDDIE books, some small stu�ed animals, clip-on reading lights - put all of this into a red Radio

Flyer wagon.

4) Baking Basket: Cookie sheet, 2-3 cookie mixes (just add egg and water type), apron, cute dish towels, 3 wooden spoons,

mu�n tin, mu�n mix, cookie cutters – put all of this into a large ceramic or plastic mixing bowl.

5) Movie Basket: Popcorn tubs (one large tub with small individual containers for popcorn - red/white stripes), popcorn packets

to pop, 1 large popcorn popper (to be popped), 2-3 PG movies, boxed candy (like from movie theater), 3-4 movie rental gift cards. – put in large basket.

6) Fishing Basket: Fishing pole (collapsible), �ies, plastic tackle box, pliers, bobbers, spools of �shing line (2-3 di�erent tests

sizes), �shing hooks, lures, rubber/plastic worms – put in old fashioned �shing basket.

7) Spa/Bath Basket: White towels, back scratcher, bubble bath, an assortment of spa/bath stu�, bath mitts, sponges, gift certi�cate

to local spa, 1 pair of medium ladies slippers - put into a bath tote.

8) Hair Care Basket: Hair dryer, �at iron, an assortment of headbands, bows, 3-4 nice name brand products (shampoo, conditioner,

gel, spray), hair brush, combs – put in a shower/plastic caddy.

9) Music Basket: Assorted CD’s (jazz, pop, rock, etc.), sheet piano music, metronome, portable music stand, CD case, gift

certi�cates to Music and Arts stores – put all into a music/notes on outside tote bag.

10) Pet Basket: Food dish, water dish, treats for either cat/dog, brush, comb, small bag of dry dog food, 2 cans of cat food, 2-3

toys (ropes, plastic squeak toys), rawhide bones – put into a small pet crate or pet carrying bag.

11) Coffee Basket: 2-3 assorted mugs, assorted �avors of co�ee, co�ee �lters, 2-4 cup co�ee maker, co�ee grinder, chocolate

covered stirring spoons, chocolate tru�es, gift certi�cates to Starbuck’s – put all in regular wicker basket.

12) Board Game Basket: 2 decks of cards, Jenga, Monopoly, Yatzee, poker chips, 2-3 bags of potato chips, assortment of sweet treats

(packaged cookies or candies), Jolly Ranchers (great for betting in place of using money) – put in large fun type tote.

13) Golf Basket: Golf balls, assorted golf tees, golf towel, visor, water, certi�cate for a round of golf at a local course, practice

putting green - put in a large sports tote bag.

14) Baseball Basket: Wi�e bat and balls, mitts, beach blanket, hats, peanuts, Cracker Jack, tickets to Raley Field to see a River Cats

game in the grass area, put into a cooler.
