public passenger transport and rail freight transport.Main performance of the VDV for its members:
Development of technical solutions, uniform rules and recommendations, in cooperation with the transport industry and transport scienceAdvising and supporting parliaments, governments and other bodies at the European, Federal, State and municipal levelsExchange and cooperation between the members

Committee on Bus Technology Preparation of sector-wide standards for optimal line-service bus technology in consideration
of technical, ecological, operational and economic aspectsSubjects:— Motor vehicle technology, development and standardisation— Conventional and alternative vehicle drives as well as conventional and alternative kinds of fuel— Electric mobility and its infrastructure (incl. hybrid, battery, hydrogen and trolleybus technology) — Life-cycle costing and economic efficiency— Automated diagnostic procedures— Registration and evaluation of current vehicle defects (“Central Reporting System”)— Vehicle technology of guided bus systems— German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations and the equivalent international regulations

91° CONVEGNO Sistema Gomma nel Trasporto Passeggeri - 1st CONFERENCE Passengers Road Transport SystemRoma – Ministero delle Infrastrutture e dei Trasporti, sala Emiciclo30 - 31 gennaio 2014
The Subcommittee on Defects prepares informationabout defects of buses of theVDV member companies. This information is collected, summed up and passed on tothe vehicle manufacturers. The reports on defects arehanded over to the busmanufacturers (EvoBus, MAN and Solaris) by “vehicle godparents” six weeks before the half-yearly meeting for their opinion.

Requirements for buses - VDV 230
High degree of standardisation – in technical descriptions (e.g. VDV driver’s workplace)Demography – passengers get older, which requires variable passenger compartments: prams, wheelchairs, bikes etc.No barriers – boarding, ticketingHigher quality: as regards punctuality (reliability of the technology), information etc.Cost effectiveness (TCO) – purchase price, maintenance, consumption etc.Lower consumption (light weight construction, cogeneration of power and heat, hybrid, electrical auxiliary equipment, increase in on-board power supply to 48 V (reduction of losses and generators etc.))Online diagnosis – can be integrated into the workshop administrationCoordination between operators and industryLess noise
