Greenwich International Film Festival
These are the adjectives that describe the films that play in the
minds of tomorrow’s great filmmakers. Greenwich International
Film Festival aims to celebrate these gifted artists annually and to
promote Greenwich, Connecticut, as a film and visual arts epicenter.
Set in Greenwich, an affluent community of art lovers located
45-minutes outside of Manhattan, this carefully curated Festival will
connect an audience of prospective financiers, distributors and film
lovers with rising stars in the film industry. The Festival’s mission is
two-fold: to provide filmmakers with a platform to showcase their
work with the goal of finding financing and distribution and to
harness the power of film to serve the greater good.
The inaugural Greenwich International Film Festival (GIFF)
event will take place June 4th through 7th, 2015. The Festival’s
supporting workshops, seminars and screenings throughout
the year will cultivate a burgeoning visual arts community in
Greenwich and beyond.
Compelling. Provocative. Thrilling. Empowering.

There is a void in the movie market place today. Just over 5% of
movies made each year actually make it to a movie screen, and
the business models that helped the independent film world
flourish over the last 25 years have changed dramatically. With
consolidation in entertainment, particularly among studios and
exhibitors, it is increasingly more difficult for a small film to reach
its audience. Many major studios have closed their independent
film divisions. Additionally, exhibitors have been challenged by the
difficulty of rising costs and there has been limited growth in venues
that can show movies. This has created a need for filmmakers to
find funding and distribution elsewhere. GIFF is determined to fill
this need by providing them with the opportunity to connect with
vital resources, capital, press, and online exposure.
The Need?Greenwich makes an ideal location for a film
festival due to its close proximity to high profile
film talent, journalists, film schools and potential
investors. It is easily accessible from surrounding
communities in Fairfield and Westchester
Counties, as well as to cosmopolitan markets such
as New York City and Boston. It is home to some
of the world’s most influential industry leaders
and to a community of urban sophisticates, who
are avid patrons of the arts.
