The GDC’s future admin block is starng to take shape. Local contractors Baker Construcon have finished the demolion phase and started re-lining the walls in preparaon for finishing works. The team have also started demolion works on the ground floor of the exhibion space in preparaon for laying a new (level) concrete floor and building new external and internal walls. EXHIBITION IN FULL-SWING There has been excellent progress on the models, interacves and audio-visuals for the exhibion over the last month. CE Eddie Morrow visited the exhibion builders in Wellington recently to check that everything was going to plan and was staggered by the level of detail, complexity and the sheer scale of the exhibion components. Ongoing development work carries on in the background with local web developers Lumina Web Soluons and the site will connue to evolve and grow through to our grand opening in September. www.golddiscoverycentre.co.nz TRENZ - the largest tourism trade show in NZ is on from Monday through to Wednesday next week at The Cloud in Auckland. The Gold Discovery Centre & Waihi Gold Mine Tours will be presenng as part of the Desnaon Coromandel cluster and the show will be followed by a post-TRENZ industry famil visit to Waihi for trade representaves on Thursday the 22nd May. KEY DATES COMING UP June Waihi Information Centre and the Vision Waihi Trust move operations to 124 Seddon St. May/June Stripping/demolition of internal space for exhibition continues. The massive underground mining machine will make quite a statement as it takes pride of place opposite the Sterling Hotel in upper Seddon Street.
