Culturally Diverse Globally Dispersed

Students from community and technical colleges around the world collaborating

virtually to address key workforce challenges provided by Michigan based global

companies: that is the idea behind theCorporate Culture Exchange, or CCX.

THE CCX NETWORK SEEKS TO

• Address the skills gap by providing opportunities for Michigan’s rising workforce to practice critical thinking skills and global competencies. • Retain top talent by showcasing career pathways and engaging potential employees in meaningful, experiential learning opportunities. • Gain insight to other countries and cultures, particularly for market expansion and non-U.S. based employee recruitment.• Promote the Michigan brand, Michigan-based companies, and unique career opportunities. • Support meaningful intercultural engagement that makes the workplace, and the world, a better place.

HOW IT WORKS

CCX gives students a platform to practice leadership and collaboration skills by working in global virtual teams to

solve real challenges provided by corporate partners.

Student teams virtually conference and collaborate on research and deliverables while monitoring progress and meeting deadlines. This flexible delivery platform addresses the needs of specific industries, such as logistics or healthcare, or topics relevant to any sector, such as corporate social responsibility or succession planning.

Sponsoring companies are invited to evaluate the final products. However, the true value of the students’ experience comes from the process of navigating the challenges inherent to working in culturally diverse and globally dispersed teams.

CCX ASSEMBLY

CCX Assembly is a week-long event which includes visits to sponsoring companies, mock (or real) interviews for internships or jobs, feedback from government and industry leaders, and the opportunity to meet and live with people from other countries. As funding permits, CCX participants are invited to meet their fellow team members and engage in a series of cultural and professional development activities at the Assembly.

Students leave with a new level of confidence, a new outlook on their career paths, a stronger commitment to their education goals, and a greater appreciation for strength in diversity. This experience will expand their network and give them an edge in the job market.

To deliver a program that truly impacts the quality of Michigan’s human capital, the MCCA Center for Global Initiatives seeks support from industry and government partners. Partners inform content, evaluate program participants, and open doors for qualified and eager candidates.
