Prices should start to ease in approximately 1 weeks’ time as more fruit out of various growing regions start hitting the market. We suggest to keep displays small for another week until prices ease. MANGOES We will continue to be supplying the Skilros line of KP mangoes as they continue to be the best available mangoes out of the Darwin region. STONEFRUITBetter quality “high chill” peaches and nectarines out of the Stanthorpe region have now started! We are now getting into some nice varieties particularly in yellow nectarines and white peaches.

Sizes available are still on the smaller side however these should increase over the coming weeks.

New season fruit out of the Swan Hill region will start over the next week.

Prices should start to ease in approximately 1 weeks’ time as more fruit out of various growing regions start hitting the market.

We suggest to keep displays small for another week until prices ease.

TOMATOESThe rain in both Bowen and Bundaberg will certainly take it’s toll on the supply and quality of tomatoes. We will be supply-ing you pre-rain tomatoes up until Monday however from Tuesday onwards they will be rain affected. Prices will firm accordingly.

MANGOESWe will continue to be supplying the Skilros line of KP mangoes as they continue to be the best available mangoes out of the Darwin region.

Katherine fruit is expected to start in approximately 2 weeks. Mangoes out of Katherine are generally better than Darwin fruit as they are coming off younger trees.

MARKET NEWS FOR WEEK COMMENCING, 23 OCTOBER 2017

AVOCADOSHASS AVOCADOS The quality of NZ Hass Avocados con-tinues to be very good however due to the ‘later than expnected’ start of WA fruit and low yields of smaller fruit (bulks) prices will continue to rise.

ORANGESNavel Oranges We will continue with Australian navel or-anges for the next 6-8 week before USA fruit starts.

3kg NavelsQuantities of navel oranges have eased moderately, we will look to changing over to P/P Valencia’s mid to late next week.

New season valencia orangesPremium Valencia oranges continue to be unavailable.

Australian Lemons Supply has eased slightly with prices increasing moderately. We will continue with southern fruit - quality remains excellent.

Australian Ruby GrapefruitThere are limited amounts of yellow available however red/ruby is in good supply - quality is fantastic.

PAW PAWPaw Paw quality in general is good - prices have remained constant.

ROCKMELONSSupply of quality fruit will be affected by recent heavy rain in North Queensland. We will keep a close eye on quality as southern fruit is several weeks away.

WATERMELONPrices continue to remain firm as the Northern Territory draws to an end and Queensland fruit starts, quality is excellent.

PEARSNew season Packham Pears continue - prices and quality remain consistent.

Burre Bosc Pears are available –quality is great.

BANANASBanana quality is excellent - demand continues to very strong causing prices to remain firm however they have plateaued.

CAPSICUMWe will be moving over to new season NZ Red, Gold and Orange capsicums next week. The quality on the Queensland product is on the down turn due to recent heavy rain and heat. The NZ Caps will be more expensive however quality, size and colour will be consistent in every carton.

ONIONSWe will be moving onto new season QLD brown onions next week in medium, large and Jarra’s. Quality is good and the shell on the outside of the onion is darker than the first varieties. Heat and humidity after the rain will make old season SA onions start to ‘SHOOT’ quicker.

BEANSThe green bean market will remain sporadic in supply and price for next week. Quality will be monitor on a daily basic.

POTATOThe Potato market is going to spike in value for next week. Heavy rain up the Queensland coast is causing havoc for growers digging programs. Quality will be monitored on a daily basiS.

MARKET NEWS FOR WEEK COMMENCING, 23 OCTOBER 2017

ASPARAGUSAsparagus will firm up next week as three big producers are finishing up. We will still have plenty to go around but just not the same amount as the last two weeks.

STRAWBERRIESWe have switched to Victorian strawber-ries as of this week as they are a much firmer and longer lasting berry. The quali-ty is still only a 8/10. We do have WA fruit in the market but they are much softer and will break down much faster. Still try and keep stocks low.

BLUEBERRIESBlueberries are struggling with all the rain around Coffs Harbour as the fruit is getting rot disease due to the damp-ness of the air. We are going to try and run with a line from Saint George called SMART. This fruit hasn’t received any rain but numbers will be limited.

SWEET POTATOSweet potato both Red and Gold will be astronomically priced as the rain has completely stopped harvesting for the last two weeks and will also have the same affect for the next two weeks if the forecast is correct. Stocks will be ex-tremely short especially at the later part of next week.

GINGERGinger is on the rise for the same reason as the sweet potato market. Sydney markets have already hit $340 a ctn and for Brisbane to have any chance of receiving stock we will have to start rais-ing our price also.

GREEN LEAFY LINESAll green leafy lines are going to start to feel the effects of all this rain and no sun-shine for a few weeks. Everything coming from QLD will not be as dark green as normal and will break down faster. Please keep this in mind when purchasing these lines.

Avo Fresh shorts - Western Australia is picking limited volumes of avocados as they are concerned of running out of fruit before Nth Qld starts. Crop volume is much less than anticipated. The tri-states have finished picking. NZ is getting up and going however NZ has half the fruit volume of last year. Their supply will be reduced for the next two weeks.
