567-8195 Tues. – 7:00 p.m. Muecke’s Home

July 6th & 7th, 2013

WELCOME to everyone, especially our guests.

Your presence is important to us.

St. Paul’s is an evangelical Christian

congregation, embracing historic Christian

teaching on all doctrines, centered on Jesus

Christ. Our desire is to bring the Gospel both

to those who are searching for answers to the

meaning of life and to those who desire a

closer relationship with God. We here at St.

Paul's have chosen to align ourselves with the

teachings of the Lutheran Reformation, due

to the clarity with which these help us to see

the true meaning of God's Word.

Specifically, St. Paul's is a ministry of the

Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod, one of

America's truly biblical churches!

• Members and guests: please fill out an

attendance card and place it in the

offering plate to indicate your presence

today. For Holy Communion, please read

our confession and indicate your

agreement with our beliefs by checking

the box next to the names of those

communing.

• Those sharing our beliefs, especially from

parishes in fellowship with us, are

welcome to receive.

• If you desire Holy Communion but hold a

confession differing from that of this

congregation, please speak with a Pastor

or an Elder.

• Non-communing, baptized children are

welcome to come to the table for a

blessing.

Please note: Half the inner circle of individual

glasses in each tray contains water with one

drop of communion wine for those hesitant to

drink larger amounts of wine. Those glasses

with wine are rose in color. 2

10:30 am in the Sanctuary

This special Worship Service in which we ask God to bless the upcoming school year and have a special blessing of the backpacks service in which ALL school-age children (St. Paul’s and all other schools) will have the opportunity to have their backpacks blessed. We will also be installing Mr. Jonathon Pickelmann as Teaching Principal of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran School. This will be the only worship service that weekend and will be followed by our annual Pig Roast and Picnic which will be a fundraiser for the 7th graders to earn money for their South Dakota trip in fall of 2014.

FAMILY PROMISE OF WESTERN WAUKESHA COUNTY Big THANK YOU for your generosity to the new mission opportunity for St. Paul’s! We collected almost $560! This is going to be a huge help for this outreach program that plans to open by the end of 2013. The board of Service and Mission Outreach is working on the details to determine if St. Paul's can be a host church (have the families stay here for a week at a time, 3-4 times a year and provide meals) or be a support church (supply volunteers, food, and raise funds). Family Promise is a national program that is in 41 states that teams up with congregations, volunteers, the business community and other local agencies to pro-vide shelter, meals and support services for homeless families. The goal is to work with the families to achieve permanent housing and sustainable independence. The estimate is that there are 105 persons that are homeless in Western Waukesha County at any given time (30 pre-school age children + 30 school age children + 45 parents/guardians). Please find more information in the church office and on the Service and Mission Outreach bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall. You can also go to their website to find out more-http://www.fpowwc.org/ Feel free to contact Mary Hickenbottom 414-333-3421 or m a r y @ s p l c o . o r g w i t h a n y q u e s t i o n s .

Thank you for your support with this mission!

Time to Grow will begin on Wednesday, September 4, 2013. We are excited to in-

troduce a new children, youth and adult Bible study called “Answers in Genesis”.

This three-year program covers the entire Bible in chronological order. It provides

answers to the issues that confront today’s culture through the media, school,

friends, etc. It also provides a thorough understanding of the authority and primary

teachings of Scripture. All ages will be equipped to defend the Bible, and become

conformed to the image of Christ, as they apply God’s Word in their everyday lives.

Key Concepts:

• The Bible is Trustworthy - We can trust all of God’s Word.

• God’s Attributes - God’s attributes are displayed throughout the Bible.

• Chronological/Historical Teaching - The Bible presents true history, not just

“stories.”

• The Bible’s Redemption - God’s plan of redemption is woven throughout Scrip-

ture.

• Apologetics - We must be ready to give an answer for what we believe.

• Life Application - We are to live in light of what the Bible teaches.

Along with the adult Answers in Genesis class led by Pastor O’Donnell and Vicar

Steve we will also have a study on the Holy Gospel of St. Matthew led by Pastor

Borgman and a women’s study called Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World led by

Angie Scharnell and Carrie O’Donnell.

The excitement is building for Time to Grow to begin so look for your opportunity to

sign up for a Bible study soon!

We are also looking for mentors to lead our children on Wednesday evenings. If you

would like more information on how you could serve in this way, please contact An-

gie at [email protected] /920-285-1264

Isaiah 66:10–14 (ESV) “Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you who love her; rejoice with her in joy, all you who mourn over her; that you may nurse and be satisfied from her consoling breast; that you may drink deeply with delight from her glorious abundance.” For thus says the LORD: “Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream; and you shall nurse, you shall be carried upon her hip, and bounced upon her knees. As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem. You shall see, and your heart shall rejoice; your bones shall flourish like the grass; And the hand of the LORD shall be known to his servants, and he shall show his indignation against his enemies.”

Galatians 6:1–10, 14–18 (ESV) Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. For each will have to bear his own load. One who is taught the word must share all good things with the one who teaches. Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God. From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.

St. Luke 10:1-20 (ESV) After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go. And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’ I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town. “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more bearable in the judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades. “The one who hears you hears me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me.” The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
