6 DNV GL Maritime Academy – Building competence

■ A course held at your premises (e.g. at your office, onboard one of your ships or at one of your workshops) saves your employees the time and expense of travelling to an external venue

■ In-house training can be designed as a single session or as multiple sessions

■ Most in-house sessions can also be organised as “virtual classrooms” with a trainer delivering the course from a remote location.

If we do not have an existing course on the topic you have in mind, we will work with you to develop a special course or training programme that suits your company’s specific needs.

PUBLIC, IN-HOUSE OR TAILORED TRAINING Join a public (open) training session if the scheduled date fits your calendar. This is ideal for individual course participants. For groups from the same company, in-house training is the most economical way to train employees:

“Key points of Superintendents daily challenges were addressed as well as tools on how to solve all kinds of issues. The role of class was clarified in several cases and the best way to collaborate with class was clearly explained. The knowledge I gained during this course will improve my job’s quality.”

It has been recognised that learning is most effec-tive when it is active and experiential. With DNV GL’s SurveySimulator Practice you will be “virtually” onboard, performing your duties next to an expe-rienced surveyor who’ll be guiding, teaching and supervising you. With SurveySimulator we can bring a real vessel right into the classroom to practice real-life situations (drills, inspections, surveys, audits) of all kinds and in complete safety.

Using specially-equipped DNV GL laptops you can take part in such trainings at your own company

premises or in your local DNV GL office. Look out for the SSP icon on our course list on the next pages to see the wide variety of Survey Simulator training on offer. These courses are highly flexible and can be fully customized to your own specific needs.

SurveySimulator contains highly detailed 3D mod-els of four ship types and was constructed based on real ship data collected over many decades by DNV GL surveyors. For more information see our website.
