Sports ReportHockey:2XI Last week’s game was a pleasure to watch as the girls worked together and also showed great leadership, to support each other, although a tough defeat by Baradene. Thanks so much to Gabby for being goalie.

Year 7 & 8 Won their game with Roskill Eden Whineray, 1-0, all the girls played extremely well. Great stuff!

Waterpolo:Year 7 & 8First competition game for the season and they played really well as a team. They put into practice everything the coaches asked them to do. It was great to start the season on a win 13-1 against Baradene.

Netball:First week of competition for all teams, mix of results, the games are great to watch – some really close games now that grading is complete.MARIST TEAM (VS) OPPONENT SCORE

Second Hand Uniforms FOR SALE

We have a range of second hand uniforms for sale. Please see our school website for a list of what we have in stock or send enquires to [email protected]

Second hand uniforms are for sale on Monday and Thursday lunchtimes or by special appointment.

Enquiries are welcome from both Marist and other local families. We are still in need of families for a Japanese group and other individual students who are here from the 23 July for either 2, 3 or 4 weeks.

International Group dates are: Saturday 28 July (3.30pm at Marist College) to Thursday (9.00am) 9 August 2018 – 18 girls from Japan.

The groups organisers would like the girls to be placed in homestays with no other Japanese students. It is fine to be hosting another student from a different country however.

Individual student dates:There will be 5 individual short-term students arriving the weekend of 21st/22nd July and staying for 2,3 or 4 weeks. These girls are either from Japan or China.

There is a payment of $40 per night for providing homestay for an International Student. We ask you to provide 3 meals a day, a room with bed and linen and of course wonderful Marist and kiwi hospitality.

If you are interested, please contact Justine Donald on email [email protected] or call 846 8311 ext. 731

Hail MaryIn the Catholic calendar the month of May is dedicated to Mary, "Theotokos",

God-bearer or the mother of God. This custom arose at the end of the 13th century and continues to this day. During this month Catholics take the time to contemplate

on Mary’s faith-filled life and her humble confidence in God’s loving plan for her. Here is a reflection to help you with your own Marian prayer journey.

Gentle MaryGentle Mary, we pray…For hearts of courage

that we may accept the will of God.

Attentive Mary, we pray…For hearts of wisdom,

that we may hear the Word of Godand respond to it in our lives.

Compassionate Mary, we pray…For hearts of love that we may actin a spirit of charity and service.

Mother Mary, we pray…For hearts of discipleship that we may

be led to live in God’s ways.
