Remembrance Day

More than 800 poppies made from plastic straws and paper plates were planted at Marish on Monday 12th in honour of the centenary of Armistice Day. There was a morning assembly followed by planting of the poppies on a specially made structure where each child laid

their poppy in honour of those who fought and lost their lives. We hope that this permanent memorial that we have built to honour our soldiers will remind children of the importance of Remembrance day.

Road Safety Assembly

Lewis from the Road Safety Team came to talk to our children about keeping themselves safe on the roads. He and his puppet made the session very interactive and engag-ing for the children. Some issues that were tackled in the assembly were about the importance of crossing the road safely, wearing visual aids, pedestrian crossings, in-car safety, safer cycling amongst others.

Congratulations! We are extremely proud that Sensei Basil of Moberly Stars judoka was selected as the Talent coach for Judo this year by the British Judo Association. Sensei Basil has been associated with Marish for the past 5 years and our children have greatly benefitted

from this association. Moberly Stars has been running a judo club after school at Marish and is one of our validated CU Learning destinations. He will be back with judo again in the spring term. Club details will be sent out to parents shortly.

Children in Need Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this year’s Children in Need. We raised a whopping £468 at

Marish. It is great to know that we contribute to a charity that provide grants to projects in the UK ,which

focus on children and young people who are disadvantaged. Children & staff came dressed in their pyjamas

to raise awareness of this great cause.

Year 1 Weather Day In Year 1 we have been learning about different types of weather in geography. To create an immersive experience for the children, we held a weather themed costume day. The children thoroughly enjoyed this experience and their cos-tumes provided a lot of opportunities for them to talk about their experiences of different types of weather. To complete the day- we even saw a real rainbow in the sky! Thank you to the parents for your support with the children's fantastic costumes.

Y2 Special projects As part of their curriculum this term, Year 2 children were asked to present a special project about where they came from. This Geography project would enable children to understand about where we live, the United Kingdom and the world. The projects submitted by children were diverse and showed a lot of insight. Here are a few we picked to share with you.
