7 Starting the Game

When you first start playing, you willneed to create your user data. Afterchoosing your Mii, your country flagand the difficulty level of yourcomputer-controlled opponents,you'll proceed to the main menu.

Choose from thfollowing options tget started

Play Olympic Events or Plus Eventsin this basic single-player mode.

Play through an original story inwhich you'll become a member of aprestigious gym. Outfits and gearyou collect in this mode can also beused elsewhere.

Use wireless communication to faceoff against up to three other playersin Olympic Events or Plus Events.

Walk a full 42.195 km (countingeach step as one metre) whilecarrying your Nintendo 3DS systemaround. By connecting to otherplayers through StreetPass andonline rankings, you can meet Miicharacters who will cheer you on orcompete against you.

Change your Mii character's outfit,gear and skills. You can alsotemporarily power up the Mario andSonic outfits by scanning amiibo!

9 Saving and Deleting Data

Your progress will be savedautomatically when you complete anevent or change settings in theOptions menu. In the Road to Riomode, you can save your progresswhile on the map screen by touching"Save" on the Touch Screen orpressing .

Select "User Settings" in Options,then pre to delete yoursaved data.♦ Be careful when deleting data.

Once deleted, it cannot berecovered.

10 Versus Mode

In Versus Mode, you can connect toother players in one of two ways.

Select "Nintendo 3DS Local Play"to play together with up to threeother players who have their owncopies of the game.

- One Nintendo 3DS system perplayer

One player (the host) should press to create a group. Once all

players have joined this group, thehost should pres again tostart the game.Players other than the host shouldselect the group they want to join.

With just one copy of this game,you can play together with up tothree other players who haveNintendo 3DS systems.

11 Pocket Marathon

In Pocket Marathon, you can meetrival Mii characters and supportingMii characters through two differenttypes of wireless communication.

If you connect to the online rankingsin Records, ranked players' Miicharacters will appear as your rivalsin the Pocket Marathon.

If you pass by another player whohas StreetPass registered for thissoftware, you will automaticallyexchange user data. The player's Miiwill then appear in Pocket Marathonmode to cheer your runner on.

In the Options menu, select "GameSettings" and set the "StreetPass"option to "ON".♦ Set this option to "OFF" at any

point to disable StreetPass.

14 Sharing Play Data

While the system is in Sleep Mode,and even while the software is notrunning, the SpotPass feature (ifenabled) will periodically connect tothe internet and send informationabout your gameplay to Nintendo inorder to help us develop futureproducts and services.

When you start playing the game,you will be asked if you want toenable SpotPass in order to shareyour gameplay information. Choose"Yes" to enable this feature.

You can enable or disable SpotPassat any time by selecting "GameSettings" from the Options menu.
