Why Catholic Schools Matter

Catholic Schools are good for children, families, communities, the nation, and the Church. Below are just a few reasons:

1. Catholic schools provide religious and moral formation in a world badly in need of Gospel values.

2. Catholic schools excel in offering high quality, affordable education, particularly to those most in need.

3. Catholic schools are the responsibility of the entire Catholic community.

4. Catholic schools are essential to the health of the Church and our democracy - they nurture the soul of our nation.

COME SING WITH US! Maria Regina Church is preparing for Advent and Christmas and is looking for more singers to join our choirs for the following Masses:

5:30pm Saturday • 8:00am & 10:00am Sunday

Being an active part of the Mass is easy with a 45-minute warm-up / rehearsal prior to the start of each Mass. Auditions are not required; however, we do need strong voices to sing on pitch and blend in with the other singers. Stop by to talk with the choir coordinator, Ms. Jul Marie, after the morning Masses for more information.

Healthy suspicion can protect those who are vulnerable to abuse

When it comes to fighting against abuse,

prevention is the first step. For adults who work

with kids, it’s important to recognize the signs

of those who could be vulnerable to predators

or abuse. Using healthy suspicion can help

prevent access to these kids as well.

October is Respect Life: Moved by Mercy

When we let our hearts be moved by God's

mercy, it shapes everything. God made each of

us in his own image and likeness. He desires

to be united with us forever in a loving

relationship. God loves us, treats us with

respect, and asks us to do the same with

others. Every person is sacred and must be

treated with the dignity they deserve. No one

should ever be treated callously or carelessly—

everyone should be cherished and protected!

We are called to show mercy because

mercy has first been shown to us.

Bringing Our Values of Faith When Voting

The bishops of the United States have issued a statement on the importance of bringing the values of our faith to the decisions made in our public life. In their statement, Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship, the bishops call for "a different kind of political engagement: One shaped by the moral convictions of well-formed consciences and focused on the dignity of every human being, the pursuit of the common good, and the protection of the weak and the vulnerable" (no. 14).

As you prepare for the upcoming election, please consider how the values of your faith can help you make your decisions.

THE COMMEMORATION OF ALL THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED

All Souls’ Day November 2, 2016

Wednesday

Mass Times: 7:00am 7:00pm

Dear brothers and sisters,

During November, we are called in a special way to remember our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection (Eucharistic Prayer II).

The Feast of All Souls calls us to turn to the memory of our deceased relatives and friends. I know that during the past years, you have suffered the loss of a family member.

As you know, the dead have as much of a right to be at the assembly as the living. Recalling them makes them present.

As one parish family, we will be praying for ourselves and our loved ones. I look forward to praying with you as we gather around the table of the Lord. May these, and all who sleep in Christ, find God’s presence, light, happiness, and peace (Eucharistic

Prayer I).

Rev. Sang Tran, Pastor

may they rest in peace.
