Welcome to the March / April News-

letter!

Over the past two months, we have been pleased to welcome new people to our meetings, particularly at our Bradford coffee morn-ings, as well as those who come along on a regular basis.

It is also good to be in touch with all of you again through this newsletter. If you've not been able to come to one of our meet-ings for a while, we hope you will come along again soon. It would be good to see you.

Perhaps you would like to join us when we go 10 pin bowling at Hollywood Bowl in Bradford. All members, whether we've already met you or not, are welcome to come along – full details follow. We look forward to meeting many of you in the coming months.

The cost is £3.50 per person for three games. Lanes are wheelchair accessible.

We will meet at the entrance to Hollywood Bowl at 1pm -committee members will be there to meet you and will be holding a Headway Bradford sign.

Keighley Coffee Mornings 10.30am –

12 noon

At Beales Department Store cafe (Upper Ground Floor), Airedale Shopping Centre, 39 Low Street, Keighley, BD21 3PU.

We are settling in nicely at the new venue for our Keighley coffee mornings. Beales do not charge us for using their cafe as long as everyone who comes buys a coffee, tea, etc.

A Headway Bradford sign will be on the table our group is using. The dates for the next two Keighley coffee mornings are:-

The cafe is on the Upper Ground Floor in the back right hand corner and is accessible by lift or escala-tor and stairs. We look for-ward to members living in the Keighley area dropping in to join us for a cuppa, meet new people or ask for information.

B U T PLEASE NOTE Because St George's Hall is being refurbished, our April coffee morning on Thurs-day 21 April 2016 will be held at The Alhambra, Morley Street,

Bradford, BD7 1AJ

Coffee Mornings will then continue to be held at the Alhambra until the refurbishment at St George's Hall is complete. Leaflets to remind you

about this change and to tell you whereabouts in the Alhambra to find our group will be given out at the coffee morning on 17 March at St George's Hall. We will get in touch with anyone who usually comes but is not able to be there on 17 March.

Donations Wanted!

We are always grateful to receive donations of new, unused items – we're thinking of items you have been given that are surplus to your requirements, which we could use as tombola or raffle prizes when fundraising for Headway Bradford.

items can be donated at any time of year by bringing them to a social meeting or coffee morning. Alter-natively, if you would like us to col-lect items, please get in touch with us so arrangements can be made. Your support will be very much ap-preciated.

Clever Creative Constructions!

After having extra time to chat and playing a couple of team games, members who came to our January Social/Support Meeting then put their construction skills into action and had a go at constructing some-thing with marshmallows and drinking straws.

The results were very impressive! Well done!

Oil Painting Demonstration by Chris Ellerton

Chris came to our February So-cial/Support meeting to demon-strate a very simple way of paint-ing beautiful scenes using oils.

In just over an hour Chris pro-duced the scene shown in these photos. He demonstrated simple techniques using mainly big brushes.

One of our member Fiona was brave enough to have a go. She helped Chris to paint the palm trees.

Chris runs oil painting classes where he teaches these tech-niques on a Monday and Thurs-day at the Kirgate Centre.

The charge is £2, per person, per session. For more details please contact the Kirgate centre on 01274 580186 and ask to speak to Vicky or Nicole. .

Headway Bradford is a local branch of Headway UK and is run by a small committee of volunteers who have either had an injury themselves or are a family member or carer. We also have legal and health care professionals who volunteer. Our aim is to provide support to help rebuild lives after brain injury.
