Utilizing the New Media Room
On January 25, 2011 the Department of Housing and Residence Life opened a media room located in Harless Dining Hall. The room is equipped with a 60” television and two gaming systems, an Xbox 360 and a Nintendo Wii. In addition to the phone technology, the room contains couches, tables, and chairs. Though
the number of video games are limited, the department is hoping to get more games in the near future. In the Marshall Parthenon, Tracey Eggleston described what the room was created for. „“We (the Department of Housing and Residence Life) want this to be a space that is fun and where students can relax and have that place that's kind of like home.”‟ In order to use the room, residents will need to go to the main lobby of Wellman Hall and check out a key. The room may also be reserved by also going to Wellman Hall Monday-Friday between 8am and 4pm.

Did you know that March is National Nutrition Month?
We‟ve heard it over and over that America is getting more obese
with each passing year. Since 1973, the
American Dietetic Association (ADA) has been making
attempts to encourage Americans to create a healthier
lifestyle by eating healthy and engaging in physical activities.
Over the years, a different theme is
employed to promote better eating habits. This year‟s theme is
“Eat Right with Color”.
How can you make your plate colorful
and creative?
Do Spring Break Your Way!
Money ruining low? Not interested in the party
scene for spring break? There are more options than partying or staying
at home for spring break. Here‟s a list of
alternative spring break trips that involve
volunteering.

Spring Break Edition
The second floor guys in Haymaker received a surprise gift in time for a ping-pong tournament last month.
Thanks to the efforts of the Haymaker/Wellman RHA last semester, the aging and broken ping pong table in Haymaker was replaced with a brand new one.
Paid for by the Department of Housing and Residence Life, the table is available for use by all Haymaker residents and their guests. If you need paddles or ping-pong balls, you can check a set out at the front desk of Haymaker 24-7.
With the addition of the ping-pong table, this is the latest in a series of improvements made to campus residence halls in the last several months.
Some of these improvements include:
Holderby Hall had a kitchenette installed this past summer.
New furniture in the lobbies and lounges of non-commons buildings.
The opening of the media room
last month.
Art and photos placed on the walls in lounges and lobbies across campus.
If you have a suggestion or a request for an improvement to the residence halls, simply tell your RA/RD. While not every proposal is possible, the department is open to all ideas.

Utility Use in the Halls
In late February, the Department of Housing and Residence Life released the totals usage for all utilities in each of the residence halls for July-December 2010.
The totals included the
total cost of electricity and water in each of the halls.
From July-December 2010, Haymaker used $21,208 in utilities while Wellman’s total was $24,689.
More utility use not only translates into higher room fees, but also in increased harm to the environment. So make sure to remember to turn off any unnecessary lights and electronics and to conserve water in the bathrooms.

The Department of Housing and Residence Life values your input! To help facilitate that, the first Resident Experience Improvement Meeting was held last month.
The goal of these meetings is to get input about what YOU would like to see in the halls. During the last meeting, the residents that attended selected among paint colors, chairs,
Resident Experience Meetings
fabrics, and overall designs for the new Twin Towers Cafeteria renovation project. They also had an opportunity to voice their opinions about the new media room, the food services, as well as a number of other things.
This is a great opportunity to let your voice be heard. The meetings are very informal and no time commitment is necessary on your part aside from
simply showing up. Refreshments will be served at all meetings.
The next Resident Experience Improvement Meeting will be March 10
th
at 9:15pm in the Wellman first floor lounge.
In addition to resident idea, some of the topics that the department is looking for input on is the visitation policy, faculty-in-residence program, food services, and more.
There’s always great things going on in the halls and on campus, and March is no exception.
Within the halls, we have programs this month focusing on career development, creativity, building a network at Marshall, developing leadership skills, and self-improvement. Check for publicity for upcoming events and see your RA for more info!

Keep powering through! You can make it! We believe in you!
March is a busy month. Between mid-terms, Spring Break, advising and planning for the fall, there is not much time for life. It is important to make sure you are taking time for yourself. Finding ways to relax makes all the difference in a stressful day. Even just 5 minutes to yourself can help things feel more manageable. Take some time during the week to sit on campus and people watch. Grab a nice drink from Starbucks. Walk around Pullman; see a play; play pool or ping pong. Anything that helps relieve stress will be beneficial to your well being overall. And remember- Summer is right around the corner!
Hi Towers East! We have had such a fun time so
far this spring semester! There have been many programs
and events that we have had and more to look forward to!
This semester RHA has been doing a fantastic job coming
up with ideas to raise money for our wonderful building
and to entertain you all! Although spring break is this
month, your Resident Advisors have planned a full sched-
ule of programs for you to enjoy. Check them out!
