2 March 2015

On January 24th your Board of Directors, Past President’s Council, Committee Chairpersons and members of the management team completed a planning retreat that crafted a vision for the club, strategic priorities for this year and action items we are working to complete within the next six months. One of the strategic priorities for 2015 is to strengthen our marketing & communication efforts.

To support this priority, we will be upgrading the software we use to run the club to the Jonas Software System in April. Jonas is a leader in providing integrated software solutions for Country Clubs, and has over 25,000 customers across 20 countries. We evaluated several software providers and asked two for proposals. The two finalists made presentations to the management team, and after careful analysis, we selected Jonas based on their proven track record, cost, and features improving member experience.

The three features that I am excited to use are: a) Golf tee times will be available online. We will continue to have a lottery for weekend and holiday tee times and the software system automates much of the work our golf staff does in preparing tee sheets. We will continue to take reservations by phone or in person; however, I believe many members will find using this online feature, available from the browser on your phone, will be easiest way to schedule a round of golf. b) Dining room reservations will be available online. We will continue to take reservations by phone or in person, though much like tee times, I believe many members will find using this online feature to be the easiest way to schedule a dining room reservation. This feature will be implemented in early summer. c) Paying your monthly bill can be done via online bank transactions. This feature will allow funds to be drawn from your checking account to pay your bill without having to write a check. This feature will also be available in early summer.

To support the conversion and training for the Jonas system, we will not have dining service on Tuesday, April 7th (first Tuesday after Easter). The halfway house will be open, but a la carte service will not be available in Bogey’s, Bogey’s Bar, the Hearth Room, Men’s Grill or family dining room.

I am impressed with the plan and work done so far to implement the system. This is a large complex project, and I know a change of this magnitude often creates unforeseen disruptions. With this in mind, I ask in advance for your tolerance as we work to improve the club. Sincerely,Jim Dodson

Jim Dodson Club President

While winter has not passed, spring is near arrival. Easter, then the Masters, represents a time of year in which we all look forward. With thoughts of tennis and golf activity starting up, dining on the porch and patio, and the pool getting ready for the year, we can imagine excitement is present throughout your family!

Our new IT software management systems are scheduled for going live in early April with the back office accounting system and point of sale system in the restaurant. A new website will be rolled out in May. During this time, please be patient with us as we work through this process. Our management team is taking important measures to ensure a successful transition. These include: weekly conference calls to our new provider, Jonas , our software provider and our management team. Our IT support team has been in step making all necessary hardware upgrades and participating in the calls, and our accounting support team is providing additional oversight. On Tuesday, April 7th, we will be closed for a la carte dining as we complete training for the service staff. The Halfway House will be open.

This summer our pool will be managed by Ashley Gilchrist. Ashley has spent four summers at the pool, three as a lifeguard and her last as pool manager and swim team coach. Ashley graduated from IU and is currently a grammar school teacher in Nora. Welcome back Ashley!

Also, coming to Meridian Hills is Ed Ahlbrand. Ed will be the swim team head coach. Ed was formerly at the Riviera Club for twenty plus years and comes to us with the excitement and enthusiasm of building a competitive swim team, offering children’s programs, water aerobics and other activities that gave him such recognition and popularity from our own members who have participated at Rivi. Welcome Ed to MHCC, we highly anticipate the energy you will bring to us and the club’s children!

For those members using the Kid’s Club please be reminded that parents/guardians must remain on club premises while your child is at the Kid’s Club. In compliance with state regulations the maximum Kid’s Club stay is 3 hours. Thank you for observing these policies and regulations.

Upcoming Events: Wednesday Fiesta Night (last Wednesday of the month) includes live music with Blair Clark Indoor Putt-Putt/Date Night Around The World, Saturday, March 14th Burger Night, Thursday, March 19th Breakfast with the Bunny, Saturday, April 4th & Easter, Sunday, April 5th.

See you at the club!Steve Roper

Membership Update & Upcoming EventsMembership Chairman Update

As you read this Newsette it will be March, which means March basketball, St. Patrick’s Day and warmer temperatures. Spring is around the corner!!The Refundable Certificate Membership Program is expiring on March 31, 2015. This membership program allows certificate holders the opportunity to redeem their certificate by giving it to an existing member to upgrade their membership or to a prospective new member to assist with the initiation fee. The certificates can be given to family members, friends, coworkers, clergy, etc. If you have any questions please feel free to call me or Megan Christman at 317.860.1556 or [email protected] Membership Committee had a very productive meeting in February and some exciting ideas about growing membership are in the works. As the weather gets warmer we will be busy with prospective members so now is the time to get ahead of the line and communicate with Megan, your friends, and family who would like to join our beautiful club. Remember, spring is right around the corner. Thanks for your support! Pat Schaefer

March 2015

In a little over a month the 2015 Masters will be held on April 9-12, in Augusta , Ga. For many years tickets were seldom available to purchase. In recent years ticket brokers have been able to secure tickets that are available to now purchase. The Masters is still one of the most popular sporting events of any of the sports. If you have never been, I would strongly recommend you plan a trip to this year's tourney. Tickets are available for practice rounds or any of the tournament days. Your own trip can be customized to fit the needs of your group. I have the privilege to assist several families in the past and they all had a great experience. The two brokers that I have used, who I trust and have had good track records with are:Brent Fisher, ETA tickets, [email protected] and his phone numbers are cell, 317-509-0252 and work, 317-251-5500, and Jimmy Wolfe, JT Tickets, [email protected] and cell, 317-531-6996.If a trip to the Masters is something that you would enjoy doing, I would suggest you call these men as soon as possible.Always,Jack
