This year’s Black history Month at DeVry University Chicago campus was a big success. Hosted by Dana Bozeman (Assis-tant Dean of Student Services) and members of the Black His-tory Committee, They made this February a month to remember. Many students enjoyed the food and the entertainment that was provided in the Black History Kick Off. The African Boot Dancers got everyone to get out of their chairs and learn multiple traditional African dances. The prestigious Key Note Speaker Dr. Leonard C.Mckinnis gave inspiring words for the evening about what it is to be a person of color in our modern society and that everyone has potential for success. DeVry has a new organization known as Lyrical Truth, they performed numerous acts from singing, dancing and poetry for the kickoff; and by the looks of it more great things are to come. This year is transitioning into what seems to be a movement with great events and everyone is ecstatic to see what DSAO (DeVry Student Association Organization) has in stored for the upcoming months. DeVry embraced this month with history and culture pro-viding a great time for the students and anyone who wanted to be a part of the experience. What will DeVry get involved with next?

Aries – Aries are spontaneous people who take life head first. This month some opportunities might come your way, but be careful, because making decisions in the rush might put at an ad-vantage. Analyze things without rushing and maybe Lady Luck will be on your side.

Taurus- This month let your determination guide you. Be careful who you let into your life, be-cause they might want to change what you are accustom to and make you lose track of your goals. Be yourself and for this month your stubbornness will be your key.

Gemini – Gemini are curious about a variety of interests, but they are also get distracted as easily. The reason for this is the doubled personality. Try to stick with your gut and follow your intuition. Despite of that the month is going to be full and exciting. Cancer – Your strongest trait is to help and care for people. Don’t let your past hunt you and put you down. Remember to give back this month; you will gain much more in return. Stay positive and optimistic, stars have lined up for you.

Leo – Your nature is very playful; try to use your positive energy everywhere you. There will be a few obstacles coming your way, but don’t panic; you don’t need somebody’s approval for you to take the next step. Your secret to success this month is to show initiative. Virgo – Virgos strong personality will shine this month. Even though you are solid enough to take care of yourself, it is always good to have your buddies beside you. The best companions will be Taurus and Capricorn; their stable emotional characteristic will be there when you need them the most.

Libra – You feel incredibly happy when helping others and that is one of you strongest charac-teristics. Now, it’s time to flip the coin and devote some time to yourself. It’s always good to have some “me time”.

Scorpio – Try took keep cool at this time of the month. You passionate personality must not over-power your ability to think clearly and positively. Meditation could work out really good for you.

Sagittarius – Your undying optimistic attitude shines bright to the people that are in your life. You might come forward to some unexpected problems that could possibly ruin your plans. But don’t panic, instead of avoiding the problems, take them into your control and they will get fixed.

Capricorn – Your are a master of overcoming obstacles, no matter what a true Capricorn is a real fighter. This month you could feel overwhelmed by the amount of work that needs to be done. Don’t stress out, just stay focus and after the hard work do what a Capricorn does best – have fun.

Aquarius – Aquarius has the ability to see everything and can’t be fooled. But as for right now, try not be a Know-it-all person, it can put some people off. In situations when you feel that you know the best, let other people be heard too.

Pisces – Don’t be stuck in the past it is time to let things go. You are putting to much weight on your shoulders. Once you do that, your life will get its colors back. It is time for a major chance, and at this point you are totally ready for it, heads up.

Fashion is my Number One PassionOnce again every field of fashion is dominated by Keshia Cration. The fashion trends for the spring will be a good change to women/men everywhere. With a little bit of modifica-tion, these styles can be easily incorporated into anyone’s wardrobe.

Trend #1: Leather/Jacket and bootsLeather jackets are fun, funky and most of all versatile! No joke, tall boots are verysexy, and when paired with a leather jacket not only do you look sexy, but youfeel confident too. This can be a very simple outfit with jeans or opaque leggings, knee high boots and a leather jacket, but you will look like you just walked outof a fashion magazine. A good idea is to wear lighter colored jeans when you arewearing dark boots and a dark jacket so that you don’t look like you are wearingall of the same color.

Trend #2: Straight leg jeans/Flats/Nice fitted topsBallet flats and skimmers are great for pairing with skinny jeans. Since they’renot at all bulky, they won’t stand out or call too much attention to your feet, andthey also help continue the lean silhouette created by the skinny jeans. I think thatanyone can look good in them if they wear the right top. A long flowy top alwayslooks awesome on anybody with skinny jeans.

Trend #3: Club dress/Wedged heelsA pair of beautiful wedge heels can keep you feeling effortlessly fabulous everyday this spring. Wearing them, you can show off your long and slim legs, you can’tgo wrong with a pair of wedges. If you’re planning a night of clubbing, you willwant something awesome to wear. Club dresses are the perfect choice. Pick theright one and you’ll make a sexy impact while you’re sitting at the bar or out on thedance floor.

Trend #4: Jeggings/LeggingsYou should only wear leggings with long tunics, long sweaters, long jackets, longshirts and short, but not mini dresses that are ultra short. A shirt dress is long andwould look really good over leggings. You can add a great belt and big chunkyfabulous necklace to perk up this look.

Healthcare is a rapidly expanding industry, in fact the Department of Labor estimatesthat the healthcare field will generate 3.2 mil-lion new wage and salary jobs between2008 and 2018, more than any other industry, largely in response to rapid growth inthe elderly population. In response to this need, in March 2005, DeVry Inc. acquired atrusted name in nursing education.

Chamberlain, formerly known as Deacon-ess Collegeof Nursing (established in 1889), excels at producing highly qualified nurses based on theingenuity of a progressive and expansive nursing program. Chamberlain offers several-levels of education ranging from LPN to RN programs, Under-graduate, and Graduate level courses. The course work is offered in onsite and on-line format.

If being a primarypart of a patient’s care and working in a continuously growing field is your goal, thenChamberlain College of Nursing is a great choice for all of your educational needs.

DeVry students represent our school and help our community by visiting senior citizens at Casa Central every month. Students play games, drink tea, eat snacks and socialize with seniors for about an hour or two. Seniors at Casa Central appreciate our presence and value our time, since not a lot of them receive visits from friends or family. Students and seniors smile and laugh before lunch time and the “Loteria” winner receives a small gift. The students involved expressed a great deal of satis-faction knowing the difference they have made in the lives of seniors, and feel very proud to serve their community. The next visit will take place Wednesday March 2, if you would like to participate, have suggestions or comments regarding the “Visit to Senior Citizens” contact Angie at 773.657.0858 or email her at [email protected]
