Glenn’s Thoughts
“All My Favorite People Are Broken”, a song by Over the Rhine, is an interesting song to say the least. Throughout the song, it describes every one of us as: broken, used up, totally spent, strung out. It reminds me as people we have nothing to give but our brokenness before an awesome God. I forget so often that all God wants is me. He wants the part of me that tries to act like someone else to impress people. He wants the part that is confident. He wants the part that is thankful and content. But I forget, He also wants my broken heart. He wants my wounded Spirit. He wants my sharp tongue. He wants my sarcastic, arro-gant attitude. He wants a physically crushed body. He wants a drunkard who just can’t give up the bottle. He wants an addict who can’t kick his habit. We forget God is in the business of broken people. If we had to be perfect when we arrived at the foot of His Cross, we would run away in shame. We would never match up to the grace, compassion, sacrifice and love displayed on the Cross for humanity at large. We are just that self-ish. As you read this article I hope you will re-member the first time you actually stood in front of Christ and said, “I get it.” How overwhelmed you where at the sight of the Cross and the fact that He died for you. Remember, there is a broken world around you that needs that same message of His saving grace. The world is broken and shattered and has no answer to the chaos and craziness that it sees everyday. I read an article about an old preacher who was asked to speak to a crowd after 70 years of ministry. The church asked him to sum up all those years of preaching in one sermon. As he slowly made his way to the pulpit this was his an-swer, “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is strong.” Then he sat down. It is that simple! If you are broken or walking in His arms, you need to know “Jesus Loves You”.
Love in Christ, Glenn
Luke’s letter to the flock How’s it going everyone! This is a new ordeal for me and to
be honest with you it took me a while to get started. I want to
start by giving out a special thank you to everyone for wel-
coming me as the Interim Student Minister here at FCC. It
has been an amazing experience thus far. I can already see
God working in our Students in so many ways. On our trip to
CCYC, we were able to slow down from this fast paced
world and really take in the glory of our Lord. I really be-
lieve the trip helped us all to see that we as Christians need to
be branded in Christ and not in the things of this world. God
is going to move in mighty ways this spring and summer in
our youth ministry. Everyone please be in prayer for our stu-
dents each and every day as they experience so much on a
day to day basis. Prayer is one of the best ways to help them
keep on keeping on!
Also, thank you to everyone who has helped out with all the
events thus far and for those of you who are planning to help
in the weeks to come.
Big Events coming up:
3/11—Collide at Poplar Springs 6-7pm
3/25—Service Project Games and fun at Priddy Manor

Please start collecting items for our yard sale. This fundraiser
is to help our students raise money for our trips that we will
take this summer!
YAC—It’s that time of year...time for food, fellowship and
fun at the homes of our families in the church. If you are in-
terested and would like to host a YAC at your home, please
contact me ASAP so I can sign you up for a date!

A year ago I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. When you hear the word cancer from your doctor, realism then sets in. As Lewis and I held hands and discussed the many “what ifs”. We both agreed God had a plan and He would be with us regard-less of the consequences. I can never express how much your prayers, cards, food, encouragement and phone calls have meant through this first year of my journey. Even with a few set-backs, I now feel good. I’ve not regained my physical strength but God and my friends give me strength to look forward, posi-tively. I am so grateful to have friends like you who have sup-ported me through this tough year. offered up on behalf of all our “Grow” church families.

This is written with grateful appreciation for the generosity of First Christian Church allowing us to use the Church for Tammy’s Benefit. Many of you helped prepare, serve and clean up during the event. Thank you so much. We were able to raise near $40,000. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Harvest Fields, Inc is a history of love for the lost with a great desire to carry the Gos-pel into the entire world. The name was prayerfully and carefully selected. The ministry began in King, NC and continues 25 years later. Is The work of Harvest Fields is simply to fund foreign nationals. The kingdom could be better served using native evangelists. This has proven to be a wise move. The first nation-al was a college Junior named Kwame Afakule, who needed help at Ghana Christian Col-lege, now Ghana Christian University. Twenty Five years later we, and a host of peo-ple,send monies to help this modern day apostle Paul pioneer the work in the tiny African Country of Togo. We have been fortunate over the years to pick up four other evangelists: Seth Crowffey, (Sunyani); wife, Felicia and family nearly twenty years ago. David and Samuel Mensah are two of our great success stories. They were fishermen, sometimes feeding the entire vil-lage. Our last evangelist is Isaac Owuso. He is an articulate, educated and consecrated to New Testament Doctrine. He speaks several languages. These men are dedicated New Testament, Restoration teachers. Our hearts broke Au-gust 2008, when David, 55 years old, succumbed to the constant onslaught of Malaria and his heart failed. He went home to be with Christ whom he loved and served. He was a GIANT of a man in body and spirit. Samuel has stepped up to do the work of both men. We are still supporting David’s widow. It is difficult to get a true picture of what all the Godly men, women, and children have done in the last quarter century. Kwame’s son (2nd gen-eration) is preaching and leading people to Christ. Thank you for your constant support of Harvest Fields over the years. The work in Africa can not be measured in human terms. the list could go on and on.
