She received her Bachelors and Masters degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering, with the highest honor at the Kuban State Technological University in Russia. Before coming to the United States, she worked 9 years on both engineering and management positions in Russia; she implemented engineering calculations and designed one-span small bridges, roads, culverts, retaining walls and facilities, performed engineering duties in planning, design, and maintaining structures. She is pursuing her Masters degree in Structural Engineering at USF with an expected graduation date of May 2016. Her current GPA is 3.95. Welcome Liana! Natalie Crock is an undergraduate research assistant, who started working at CUTR in June 2015 on the Observational Survey and Public Opinion Survey of Pedestrian Bicyclists project for Dr. Achilleas Kourtellis’ group. She was working off-site and now she will be on-site in Room 117. Her responsibilities include survey, observing, and analyzing pedestrian and bicyclist’s behavior throughout the state of Florida. She is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering with plans to graduate Spring 2017. Welcome Natalie! NOTEWORTHY ACCOLADES

The Tampa Bay Clean Cities Coali-

tion (TBCCC) attended the 2016 National

Biodiesel Conference and Expo at the

Tampa Convention Center from January

25-28. TBCCC coordinator Steve Reich

and Clean Cities coordinators from coali-

tions around the U.S. were among the

more than 1,000 biodiesel industry

leaders and advocates who attended the

four-day conference. Conference high-

lights include presentations from biodiesel industry and policy experts, researchers,

and students, an expo hall, renewable fuels policy panel discussion, a ride-and-drive

event, and a biodiesel vehicle showcase.

On February 19, the Tampa Bay

Clean Cities Coalition (TBCCC) held

its quarterly Steering Committee meet-

ing at the Hillsborough Community

College Workforce Training Center.

TBCCC is working on several projects,

including a collaboration with the

University of Central Florida and other

Florida Clean Cities coalitions to

develop a First Responder Alternative

Fuel Training network. TBCCC is also

preparing for a spring alternative fuels

event.

The USF Office of Sustainability is submitting a poster proposal for the 2016 Associa-

tion for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) Conference

& Expo. This year’s conference theme is “Beyond the Campus,” which focuses on

dissemination and implementation of sustainability solutions in surrounding commu-

nities. The poster proposal features the Tampa Bay Clean Cities Coalition and its

efforts to reduce petroleum use in Tampa Bay. The conference will be held

October 9-12 in Baltimore, Maryland.
