4-H IS BASED ON RESEARCH
Fremont County 4-H Endowment Scholarship In November 1993, The Ellen Rice estate donated a generous sum of money to the Fremont County 4-H program. With this donation, the Fremont County Endowment Fund was estab- lished. The funds were invested with the Iowa 4-H Foundation where they continue to grow through interest earnings and continued donations of individuals and estates dedicated to the advancement of 4-H.
Upon the creation of the Fremont County Endowment Fund, a six-person committee was ap-pointed to oversee it. This committee authorizes utilization of the funds. The most prominent use of the En-dowment Fund is providing grants to 4-H’ers to help further their education after high school.
The application deadline is 4:30 p.m. on April 1, 2014. Applications should be submitted to the Fremont County Extension Office. Find the grant application for H.S. seniors here: Word; PDF
Jesse A. & Irene W. McIntyre Scholarship
In 2005, Jesse A. McIntyre and the McIntyre Family Limited Partnership established the Jesse A. & Irene W. McIntyre Scholarship for graduating Fremont County 4-Hers. In his request for the establishment of the scholarship, Mr. McIntyre said it best: "I have said many times that 4-H has been good to me. I believe in its values of development of strong future leaders, symbolized by the four H's of head, heart, hands and health, and have tried to make them a part of my life. I want to give back to the young people that make up 4-H today and will continue to be the future of 4-H. Many of their grandparents and parents have been a part of the 4-H that benefited me over the years."
Mrs. McIntyre passed away in 2004, and Mr. McIntyre passed away in September, 2012, leav-ing behind a family committed to honoring Jesse’s and Irene’s dedication to 4-H through the continued admin-istration of an annual scholarship award. The announcement of the scholarship to one girl and one boy is made annually at the Fremont County Fair.
The application deadline is 4:30 p.m. on April 1, 2014. Applications should be submitted to the Fremont County Extension Office. Word; PDF
