Ambas sador Orfila is hos ting this dinner dance to support and publicize the current renaissance of the Tango as a dance form in Argentina The event is seen primarily as a cultural one and is being given widespread publicity in Argentina A valuable private collection of paintings thematically oriented to the Tango has been especially flown up from Buenos Aires for the event The Vice President and Mrs Ford are the guests of honor for the event

Black tie long dresses for the ladies

At 8 00 p m Lt Col Sardo will meet Mrs Ford at the entrance of the Argentine Embas sy and escort her to the second floor of the Embassy Ambas sador Orfila will greet Mrs Ford in the receiving line on the second floor of the Embassy The Vice President will arrive separately at approximately 1000 p m The Vice President will be met by Lt Col Sardo and Ambas sador Orfila at the entrance of the Embassy and escorted up to the second floor

Cocktail reception will last from approximately 8 00 to 9 00 p m There will be live T V coverage by an Argentine T V crew from 8 30 to 9 00 p m which will be beamed by satellite to Argentina Mrs Ford will be interviewed sometime during that period Ques tions will be non-political and will concentrate on the impressions and merits of the Tango and other cultural areas

At approximately 900 p m Ambassador Orfila will escort Mrs Ford to her table Round tables will be used Mrs Ford will be seated at the Ambassadors table The dinner will last from approximately 9 00 to 10 00 p m Should the Vice President arrive during dinner he will be met and escorted to Mrs Fords table where a place will be held for him

There will be filmed T V coverage by an Argentine crew a Mexican crew and Channel 5 Metromedia of the dancing It is pos sible that the Vice President may be interviewed and asked to comment on the occasion

Argentine Elllbassy Friday March 29

In two conversations with Argentine AITlbassador Orfila today the scenario as he presented it for the function on Friday night is as follows

A reception and cocktails froITl 8 00 to 8 30 p ITl

Dinner froITl 8 30 to 10 00 p ITl

Following dinner reITloval to the Grand Salon for dancing until an undete rITlined hour

The AITlbassador indicated that an Argentine television crew would be covering the dinner froITl 830 to 900 p ITl live and that it would be beaITled by satellite to Argentina He further indicated that the TV crew would be taking filITl coverage of the dance for a later video tape showing in Argentina It is also possible that filITl crews froITl an Italian network as well as Channel 5 MetroITledia will cover the event

Presently it is ITly plan to be at the EITlbassy and await the arrival of Mrs Ford between 800 and 830 p ITl I plan to escort Mrs Ford until such tiITle as the Vice President arrives - -as I undershystand it now approxiITlately 945 to 10 00 p ITl FurtherITlore I will have the AITlbas sador alerted and in position to greet the Vice President

In two conversations with Argentine AITlbassador Orfila today the scenario as he presented it for the function on Friday night is as follows

A reception and cocktails froITl 8 00 to 8 30 p ITl

Dinner froITl 8 30 to 10 00 p ITl

Following dinner reITloval to the Grand Salon for dancing until an undete rITlined hour

The AITlbassador indicated that an Argentine television crew would be covering the dinner froITl 830 to 900 p ITl live and that it would be beaITled by satellite to Argentina He further indicated that the TV crew would be taking filITl coverage of the dance for a later video tape showing in Argentina It is also possible that filITl crews froITl an Italian network as well as Channel 5 MetroITledia will cover the event
