When we think of teens using Social Media Apps, maturity and understanding has to be a key part. The two most popular apps currently being used are Tik Tok and Snapchat. Both of these apps have a minimum age of 13, and Tik Tok says that an individual under the age of 18 needs guardian approval. There are numerous reasons for this. If you make the de- cision to allow your child to have these types of accounts, please make sure that you have their login information so you can check what is going on within the account whenever you want or need. Some middle school students may not have the maturity level needed to handle these kind of modern socialization avenues, especially those under the age 16 and it could possibly be beneficial to not have these types of accounts at all. CHS STUCO will visit with HWMS 8th graders on Tues., March 10th to encourage students to get involved in high school and run for STUCO offices. 8th graders interested in running for office will be campaigning begin- ning March 23rd. An election will be held on Wed., April 1st. Winners will be notified and all candidates will be members at large. The Student Council is made up of elected officers and a general population called Members at Large. The elected officers are voted on by the student body. The main responsibility of Student Council is to represent the student voice, much like the local and state governments are the voice of the citizens of Haysville and Kansas. Student Council serves as the liaison be- tween the student body and the administration. Student Council also plans several activities for students to en- courage student participation and spirit in their school along with community service projects.
