Brown Bag Book Club Thursdays: March 12, 266–7pm Book club will meet twice during the month of March. We will review the first half of the book on the 12th and the second part on the 26th. Participants can bring a “brown bag” meal, and desserts and drinks will be provided. This month, we will be reading Under the Blood-Red Sun. (Grades 4–6; Sage Room)

Book description: Tomi was born in Hawaii. His grandfather and parents were born in Japan and came to America to escape poverty. World War II seems far away from Tomi and his friends, who are too busy playing ball on their 8th grade team, the Rats. But then, Pearl Harbor is attacked by the Japanese and the United States declares war on Japan. Japanese men are rounded up, and Tomi’s father and grandfather are arrested. These computers are not connected to the internet, so it is a safe environment that keeps children away from undesirable websites and content.
