Snowshoeing adventures with Newcomers

GAME NIGHT RETURNS Due to the popularity of our Game Night in January,

we are repeating the event.

Everyone is invited to Newcomers Game Night -- bring your favorite game or two!  Each household attending is asked to bring your favorite appetizer or snack to share with 8-10 others. Water and soft drinks will be provided.  Sorry, NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES are allowed at the church. If you plan to attend, reply to Mike by email ([email protected]) and provide the number attending and what you plan to bring, your phone number and email address. Volunteers are needed to help set up tables and chairs, then tear down at the end of the evening. Please contact Mike if you can help!

Cross-Country Ski & Snowshoe Group

Want to commune with nature and get excited about each new snow? To trade the frenetic activity of the slopes for the peace and tranquility of woods? Then this activity is for you. We plan to meet twice a month, sometimes skiing, sometimes snowshoeing. We will explore various cross-country ski areas around Park City, and also in the lower Uintah mountains. All participants must sign the Newcomer's release form and are responsible for all their own or rental equipment.  DATES FOR MARCH WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE WEATHER! Newcomers are encouraged to join the Bowling Group for lots of fun. We usually bowl two games and are finished in a couple of hours. Fine Dining

If you are interested in participating in Fine Dining as a group member or as an alternate, please contact Linda Elbert at [email protected] or 949-280-6379. Linda is the chair for this activity. Fine Dining is for people who like to cook, eat, and share conversation around the table. Groups dine together once a month at a members home, rotating locations each month. A menu and recipes for the dinner are provided by the Fine Dining Coordinator (Linda Elbert). New Fine Dining groups have been formed for March through June 2019. A few reminders about groups working together: Each group schedules their own dinner dates with each pair taking a turn to host.  Dates should be scheduled in a collaborative manner so the most members of the group can participate.  If a couple or individual cannot participate, it is their job to notify the host and find their own alternate. The host prepares the entrée and sets the table. Other group members prepare and bring the other dishes. Everyone brings their own wine or other beverage of choice.

Girls’ Night Out No March activity --  We are joining the rest of the Newcomers groups for the Mardi Gras Gala on Saturday, March 2nd.  Hope to see you there! Supper Club

For March,  we will be joining the rest of the Newcomers groups for the Mardi Gras Gala on Saturday, March 2nd.  All regular Supper Club attendees are invited and urged to attend.  We need a Supper Club host for April.  Please contact Judy Rogers ( [email protected] ) to volunteer. Elaine Spear has kindly offered to host Supper Club in May.  Many thanks to Elaine! Supper Club is held once a month in a member’s home. It is a fabulous time to meet new friends. Everyone is welcome, singles and couples alike. The hostess decides on a theme, cleans the house (or not), provides dishes, utensils, non-alcoholic beverages, opens the door, and the party begins! Please contact the Host for your food assignment. Supper Club Etiquette •  Please bring YOUR ASSIGNED DISH; enough for 10-12

people •  If you are UNABLE TO ATTEND, immediately call the

Host AND if at all possible arrange to have your assigned dish delivered.

•  Be respectful of the Host’s home. Alert them to any spillage or damage.

•  BYOB – bring your own beverage. Please do not expect to “share” other’s beverages.

Wine Tasting

Our March activity will be joining the rest of the Newcomers groups for the Mardi Gras Gala on Saturday, March 2nd.  All regular Wine Tasting attendees are invited and urged to attend. 

We are presently looking for someone to host our April and May Wine Tasting events.  If anyone is interested, please contact Robin Fravel at [email protected] or 435-224-3881.   If you like wine and parties this event is for you.  Our monthly wine tastings are a great way to sample a range of wines and meet new friends.      Each guest brings 2 bottles of the SAME wine, one bottle for tasting (in a brown bag with the price written inside) and one bottle for the hosts.  The price point is $10 - $20 a bottle. This will be a blind tasting and each guest will complete a tasting sheet.  Near the end of the evening, the scores will be tallied and the bottles will be revealed.    ALSO, everyone brings an hors d’oeuvre to share.  (No chips and dips, please.)    IMPORTANT: We are in the process of updating our email list.  Please contact Robin at [email protected] if you wish to be included on our email list.  Also, we are looking for people who would like to host upcoming wine tasting events.  Contact Robin to volunteer.        Your Wine Tasting chair (for the Winter) is Robin Fravel ([email protected]). Public Service Announcements

You can help the first Bright Futures graduates as they attend college this fall!

At our July coffee, we were informed about the Bright Futures program and met some of the students participating. There are 22 first-generation college students from Park City High that will need supplies when they go off to college for the first time. Items needed include: shower bucket items like soap, shampoo, deodorant; bedding; printers, paper and gently used computers; laundry items; blow dryers and irons; umbrellas and rain coats; gift certificates to local restaurants. 

Please bring your donations to the next Newcomers Coffee on Wednesday, March 13. Bright Futures will be there to pick them up !

The Park City School District needs our help.

On Friday March 29, from 12:30-2:15, 5th grade students will debate on the effectiveness of “homework”. We are looking for 4 people to help with judging the debates.  No prior “debate” skills needed, guidelines for judging will be provided!
