MARCH 2018 I Serve a Risen Savior I was so very blessed to have been born into a wonder- ful family with a very godly heritage. My parents and grandparents loved and served the Lord faithfully and left me with sweet memories from childhood. My Texas grandparents were from German blood line and one of the most precious memories of them in me is how they would sit on the large wrap around porch of their farm house, which they called the gallery, and they would sing in German from the Methodist hymnal. My Arkansas grandparents would have a hymn sing every Sunday afternoon after church with my grandma at the piano, my daddy and granddaddy playing the fiddle, my uncle playing the guitar and all of the rest of us gather- ed around singing one hymn after the other. I am so rich and grateful for all these memories!! I found myself recently on a Satruday morning with a hymnal in my lap and singing one hymn after another just like my ances- tors! When I came to this hymn, “I Serve a Risen Savior” the words came alive in my spirit once again as I pon- dered on this glorious Easter season!! If you remember this hymn, let it resonate in your spirit and sing it out loud and while you are singing to the Lord, maybe sing these other wonderful old hymns, too: “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross”, “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Crown Him with Many Crowns” just to name a few. Where would we be if it were not for the wonderful Cross and Jesus’ glorious resurrection!!! HE LIVES 1. I serve a risen Savior He’s in the world today I know that he is living, Whatever men may say. I see His hand of mercy; I hear HIs voice of cheer; And just the time I need him He’s always near. 2. In all the world around me I see His loving care, And though my heart grows weary, I never will despair; I know that he is leading through all the stormy blast; The day of His appearing Will come at last. 3. Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, Lift up your voice and sing Eternal hallelajahs To Jesus Christ the King! The Hope of all who seek Him, The Help of all who find, None other is so loving, So good and kind. Chorus: He lives, He lives, Chris Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks to me Along life’s narrow way. He lIves, He livess, salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives wihtin my heart! This is me coming out of the tomb in Jerusalem where they belive that Jesus was laid. I can praise God for the many times I have died to something in my life and Jesus’ ressurection power brought me back from the dead time and time again!!! Roman 8:11, “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” We serve a risen Savior and He lives in us!!! I love you all and bless you in that Name that is above every name.... The Name of Jesus!!
