As an educator, Dr.Pili said that her contributions to glob-alization and world peace were exemplified via the various instructional materials that she had authored, such as science books, textbooks and labora-tory manuals and also thru her numerous research studies published in the national and international refereed journals. Such academic exercise and efforts, she emphasized, could very well integrate and move the minds, hearts and spirits of men toward an action of peace

building. She pointed out that she could also attain such aspirations while being the President of TUP by establish-ing linkages and/or partner-ships with academic and non-

According to her, the promot-ers of globalization composed of organizations, institutions, communities and nations, con-sider education as the core action line in shaping the inter-change of world views, prod-ucts, ideas and other aspects of culture. The Technological University of the Philippines received a recognition cer-tificate for being one of the Top 11 ranking SUCs with the Most Number of Awarded Candidate Status by the Ac-crediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and University in the Philippines

(AACCUP), Inc. This was the result of the 13 undergraduate and graduate programs that passed the assessment in the preliminary survey visit of AAC-CUP and were awarded the Candidate Status last July 28 to 31, 2014. Engr. Benedicto N. Fortaleza, Di-rector, University Accreditation Office, represented TUP President Dr. Adora S. Pili during the awarding ceremonies last February 18, 2015 on the occasion of the 28th AACCUP Annual National conference at the Centennial Hall held at the Manila Hotel, Rizal Park, Ma-nila. Also present in the event were Dr. Helen D. Caparas, Dean, College of Industrial Education; Dr. Gisela V. Rolluqui, Dean, College of Industrial Technology; and Engr. Lyndon R. 2008. However, this was the first time that it was opened in the Philippines. The contest that was participated in by 192 contestants from all over the country was held in Marco Polo Hotel, Makati last December 17, 2014.

On the final judgment, only 11 out of 31 battery—electric prototype vehicles qualified for the competition. From the 11 competing vehi-cles, TUP obtained the 8th place as it struggled to stretch the boundaries of battery– electric efficiency in a real world of urban environments in 2 attempts. TUP’s Lawin2 is designed to be a car of the future – a streamlined vehicle that fo-cuses on maximizing battery-electric efficiency through in-novative design elements. Thailand’s Nakhon Si Tham-marat Rajabhat University of Thailand recorded the longest mileage for the battery-electric prototype category, with a re-cord of 451 km/kWh. Over 120 teams from 17 countries including Australia, Bangladesh, Oman and Saudi Arabia took part this year. The flag-off ceremony was held at the Luneta Park on February 27, while the closing ceremonies was held on March 1 at the Fiesta Pavillon, Manila Hotel. The SEM is an international competition that “challenges student teams from around the world to design, build and test ultra energy-efficient vehicles.”
