PRESIDENT’S CORNER

PLEASE NOTE I also need all information from general meeting by this date also.

News DEADLINE is 5 PM ~ Friday ~ April 4th for next issue.

Email to: [email protected] Thank you.

Greetings Members & Guests,

At times it is hard for me to think of the business side of an Art League – it sometimes takes on the attributes

of an extended family. Lee Kaster was the March presenter. She is just one small part of our very

talented group. Her voice may seem small in a room full of artist but her creativity comes to life in a very

large way. I thank her for sharing her talents with us. Sometimes, it is easier to do a demonstration in a room

full of strangers than it is to open up and share with your very talented contemporaries.

We also had a bit of sentiment as Harold Nelson is moving away. His presence will be missed by many.

We will look forward to a visit from him when he passes through Scottsdale.

Please keep Irene Donato, our very special member, in your thoughts and prayers. Her husband passed

away first week in March. I want to thank all the members that bring

refreshments to our meetings. What would a family be without food?

Please bring a little something for the April meeting. The Month of May is covered.

In the next month we will be discussing who will be replacing Mary Kuhr as 2nd VP of shows in June. And

there are also a few volunteers for other positions that are open.

I will let you know what is needed to keep our opportunities moving forward. It is your volunteerism

that assures the growth of our fantastic League.

Truly – it is great to see friends each month……..and sad to say good-bye to Harold Nelson. Ha! Finally caught John sleeping on the

job and………it is possible to sleep standing up!

Then we catch Terry and Kat texting ……what??..... Thank you Lee Kaster for a demonstration on how to let your inner self

express.

Critique was most informative and constructive! Jim Garrison gave all

those who brought an artwork a concise and much needed advise….along

with his praise and witty quips. We all came away smiling and smarter!

“Natch! Off by

1 number.”

I can remember being fascinated by my grandfather drawing

stick people for me on the ground while I stood between his

knees at the neighborhood bocce court. I remember my first

art teacher Mrs. Forman (had one arm) in grammar- school

and my first college instructor, Mr. Ransom. The journey and

experience has been with me throughout my life. I have

worked with artist friends and taught by many, some of

which may have touched your lives at Scottsdale Artist

League and exposed you to ideas, techniques, and new

friends you didn’t have before.

In my travels, I have been in many countries while in or out

of the USAF, and most of our United States and, I have

enjoyed the diversity of Art created in many cultures. This

life experience has been fascinating and a joy, for Art is like a

Magnet that I am drawn to.

I feel we must speak our own language in expressing

ourselves, as I try so hard to do when I commit poetry,

emotion, music and song I hear in my mind, to canvas.

Creating fine art, I feel one must first start with realism.

In conclusion: if you think you can’t paint but enjoy fine art,

express yourself in your selection of it, as artist do in the

pleasure of providing original fine art for you.

Till we paint again
