HEY KEY CLUBBERS!
12 more days until District Convention 2013! I
hope you are all as excited as I am! First of all, I
would like to thank each and every Key Club
member, Kiwanis member, and faculty advisor
who has supported me this past year. Without
your help, I would not have been able to
accomplish the goals I had set for my term. It
has truly been an honor serving as the
Lieutenant Governor of Division 56 for the 2012-
2013 term. As I said in the beginning of my term,
I do not view Key Club as a high school service
club that is just about SERVING the
community—it is about BEING a community. As
members of a community, I believe that helping
the people around us is more of a given, and
this act should not be limited to only the service
opportunities offered in Key Club. As members
of Key Club, we should be setting this example
for others to follow. Although it is bittersweet to
think that I will be retired from my position in only
12 days, I am extremely proud of what our
division has accomplished this year and could
not have asked for a better District Board to
serve with. So thank you all for giving me this
wonderful opportunity that has forever
changed my life for the better. See you guys at
District Convention! And remember: Keep Calm
and Key Club On!
“Thank You” :)
In caring & service,
Joseph Chung Lt.G of Division 56
Division 56 of the Pacific Northwest District
currently consists of Pullman High School, Moscow
High School, and Kamiah High School (and soon
Orofino High School too!). We are part of the Eastside
region. Although we only have 3 clubs, we are one of
the most widespread divisions in the district.
Our Divisional Mascot is the Penguin! I have chosen
the penguin because I believe that, although our
clubs are far apart, we all come together as one
division in SERVICE.
Our Divisional Colors are Blue and Yellow! Blue
represents our pride as members of Key Club and
Yellow represents our shining efforts in service!
WE ARE DIVISION 56!

YOUR NEW LTG!
Hi all! My name is Aneesh Pappu and I am currently
a sophomore at Pullman High School. I am the new
incoming Lieutenant Governor of Division 56 for the
2013-2014 term. I cannot express how excited I am
to serve as the Lt.G for the upcoming year. As a
highly involved member of Key Club, I can say that
Key Club is much more to me than a service
organization. Key Club is a place where I can make
all sorts of amazing new friends, freely express
myself, and have tons of fun while working for a
great cause. My role as Lieutenant Governor on
the Pacific Northwest District Board is to serve as
the bridge between the clubs in our division and
the District as a whole. This means that I am your
go-to person whenever you feel you need any help
from the district. Whether this be DCON related or
officer training, I will always be available to help.
One of my goals as Lt.G is to improve
communication within our division. As a very spread
out division, the clubs in our area are naturally more
isolated. I hope to improve divisional
communication by making a club visit to every
single club and holding PCM’s to meet with the
club presidents once a month. I am really looking
forward to the next year and I can’t wait to see you
all at DCON!
In caring & service,
Aneesh Pappu

“This year I would like to take on several goals.
First, I would like to make our districts a priority
by making sure the International Board is
always considering each districts ideas and
opinions, and through working closely with the
District Governor's. Secondly, I hope to better
our relations with the rest of the Kiwanis Family
through The Eliminate Project. Third, I would
like to help guide our organization by
strengthening the International Committees.
Lastly, I wish to reach out even further to
members by utilizing social media. I will use
these goals to guide me throughout my
term.”

OUR 2012-2013 SISTER DISTRICT GOVERNORS
KCCP The Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program, KCCP, in support of Kiwanis Doernbecher Children’s
Cancer Program in Portland OR., Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program in Seattle WA. and the
Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program in British Columbia and the Yukon, will raise money and
awareness to fight and find the cure for children’s cancer. The goal of the KCCP is to fund 3 or
more Fellowships at the three hospitals in our district. To achieve this goal we will hold district
fundraisers, seek public donations, corporate sponsors and receive funds from our clubs in the
Pacific Northwest District. Thousands of children are diagnosed with cancer each year, and with
the help of research their chances of surviving have more than tripled. KCCP hopes to be a part
of finding a cure. Not only will this benefit children it will benefit all cancer patients worldwide.
Remember the research of adult cancers does nothing to help cure children’s cancer, but the
research of children’s cancers does help find the cure of adult cancers.
ELIMINATE With The Eliminate Project, Kiwanis International and UNICEF
have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal
tetanus. This deadly disease steals the lives of nearly 60,000
innocent babies and a significant number of women each
year. The effects of the disease are excruciating — tiny
newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme
sensitivity to light and touch. To eliminate MNT from the Earth,
more than 100 million mothers and their future babies must be
immunized. This requires vaccines, syringes, safe storage,
transportation, thousands of skilled staff and more. It will take
US$110 million — and the dedicated work of UNICEF and
every member of the Kiwanis family.
