Principal’s Report Students who attend Slavic Christian Academy are developing a biblical worldview and a valuing of the family. According to the Cardus Education Survey, students who graduate from a Christian school when compared to graduates from public, Catholic, and non-Christian private schools have significantly higher levels of church attendance, Bible Reading, and prayer. Christian school graduates are more convinced that premarital sex, cohabitation before marriage, and divorce, are morally wrong. Wow! Thank God for Slavic Christian Academy. Good work, God’s works is being done. 4th & 5th GRADE

February, the month that celebrates love, gave us many chances to express and define the true meaning of love. But practicing the true expression of love each day with our classmates is much more difficult to accomplish than one might think. Thinking about how our words and actions affect others is one skill that we continue to work on each day right along with math and science. It is as much a “life skill” as any subject we teach at SCA and the mark of Christians everywhere.

Mrs. Turner 6th GRADE

Our sixth grade and Junior High girls did a great job showing their Dad’s the true meaning of love! They sang, spoke, and showed through drama that God’s love never fails!

March forth! This is our goal, beginning March 4, 2013. We are remembering the lives or our American Christian Fathers, who sacrificed their homes, their honor, their wealth, and their lives so that we could enjoy freedom today.

We are combining both Science and English as we begin a Research Paper on a specific Vertebrate.

I am grateful for each of your children. I am blessed by both them and you.

Да благословит вас Господь,

Mr. Daniel Hipple 9th & 10th GRADES

Hello parents and students!

Our high school students spent part of the month of February preparing to compete in the regional ACSI speech meet that took place on February 28. Every high school student had to prepare a speech - some chose to write their own, some memorized a speech, some read a drama together. I was really impressed with how well our students did at this event. It is wonderful to see our students excel in so many different areas!

Miss Smith

SCIENCE

To my Biology students:

Great job on the group effort put into your campaigns and presentations! We are officially done with the respiratory system and will be moving into studying the digestive system for the remainder of the quarter.

To my Physics students:

I enjoyed seeing the participation that took place during our Chapter 9 Lab. It was great to see your understanding of the concepts and ability to put them into their application. We will be finishing the Mechanics unit for the remainder of Quarter 3.

Keep up the great work!

Miss Litoshyk

Junior High Basketball

Our junior high basketball team finished the regular league schedule with a record of 7 wins and 3 losses which was second place in the league. On Saturday the team played in the league tournament at Christian Heritage School in Edwall. SCA won one game and lost two in the tournament. Congratulations junior high basketball players and coach Michael Vagin! * Peter Dragomir, Ruvim Dragomir, Jessica Kobzar, Edward Kutsar, Mark Kutsar, Vlad Lukin, Roman Semivrazhnov, Liza Skoromnaya, Oleg Lukin, Daniel Tarasov, David Dragomir, Andrey Shumkov.

Career Paths/Guidance Counselor: To the high school seniors:

Congratulations on completing your college applications! I look forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for you as you receive your letters this coming spring. I advise that you constantly check your scholarship search for deadlines and new postings. The remainder of this quarter will be spent in your career research. I have seen great progress already and cannot wait for your presentations at the end of this month!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please keep in mind the March 18, 2013 deadline for AP Exam ordering (see letter to parents).

God bless,

Miss Litoshyk

PreK & K GRADES

Though February is the shortest month, it was quite eventful! When learning about Kenya, we tried to carry things on our heads and make “flour” using stones like people in African countries do. Our theme for March is “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” 1 Tim.4:12 Spring is here and I hope it’ll bring a lot of joy in everybody’s hearts!

Blessings! Miss Kudlaieva

1st GRADE

Dear parents, thank you so much for participating in the first grade speech meet by spending several weeks perfecting your child’s speeches at home. At school children also practiced their speeches in front of their peers. Together, we developed public speaking skills in our children: communication techniques, to speak audibly, expressively articulation, exhibiting poise and confidence in the presense of an audience. During the speech meet, students presented their selection in front of judges who scored them and provided encouraging comments and helpful feedback. This event helps raise effective communicators who impact the world with the life changing reality of Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Tarasov

2nd & 3rd GRADES

February News from the 2nd/3rd grade. Bible: We are finishing up our study of Abraham, Issac, Esau & Jacob and moving into the life of Daniel. History: This was Presidential month where we studied George Washington & Abraham Lincoln. We also focused on Clara Barton and are learning songs from colonial times in America. Science: We are hatching Triops and are moving from our study of Vertebrates to Invertebrates. Students are doing an animal report and we are reviewing habitats. All of us prepared for and participated in the speech meet; eleven of us will attend the regional competition in March. Our core subjects of Reading; Writing; Math continue to bring us daily challenges and fun with learning!

Tips for a healthy lunch at school:

1. To save money, put in your child’s lunch box what you prepared at home, they can warm the food in school.

2. Put in your child’s lunch box at least one fruit: apple, banana, or grapes.

3. Provide not sweetened juice.

Note, if your child forgets to bring lunch, we have Costco soups and yogurt just for .50 cent per item. Your child will not be hungry. We will apply a cost to your school account, if a child will not pay within a week.
