From My Heart… This month I’d like to share this with you from your National Sales Director!

What if I wanted to do something different? By Lisa Allison NSD Many Consultants, even Directors tend to slip into their comfort zones this time of year. Why? It’s just easier there and life can be difficult right? I remember a time when I felt like I wanted to quit Mary Kay. Ron asked, “what will you do instead?” The minute I thought about sitting behind a desk in front of a computer in banking all day every day, commuting to and from work in traffic (instead of from the coffee pot upstairs to my loft office) and missing out on my daughters daily activities, I snapped back into the reality of my MK career and regrouped to get myself out of a lazy comfort zone. Sometimes when we slip into our comfort zones, when life gets difficult, we just have to RE-remember our purpose, right? Cadillac Exec Sr Sales Dir, Katherine Ward, once thought about going back to a comfort zone. Before MK she was in pharmaceutical sales. There was a time when her business wasn’t where she wanted it to be and she found herself wondering, should I go back into outside sales? She decided to take action, to book herself solid and to build 10 new people that month because she was a Cadillac director and she knew the way, she trusted in the process. Sometimes when we slip into our comfort zones, when life gets difficult, we just have to RE-remember our pur-pose, right? Today she is a work at home mom, retired her husband from his corporate job in his 30’s and last week had baby girl #3. Loving her flexibility AND great income. Cadillac Senior Sales Dir Sara Pennella once thought about quitting MK and returning to her comfort zone as an attorney. Of course, Sara is one of these wonderfully driven people who would HAVE to be at the top in her field, therefore, she would have to commit to 80 + hour weeks and never seeing her 2 babies. Sometimes when we slip into our comfort zones, when life gets difficult, we just have to RE-remember our pur-pose, right? Today she is a work at home mom and largely supporting her family. Loving her choices! Cadillac Sales Director, Cari Newby, was in retail before MK. Working in a bookstore fulfilled her need to be around people, however, the income wasn’t enough for her to put her baby in day care, so she began her MK business. Three babies later, for a total of 4 precious little ones, Cari wanted desperately to remain a work at home mom. When Cari’s Director quit, it shook Cari’s pink world and she wondered, should I leave MK too? Maybe I should return to retail? Sometimes when we slip into our comfort zones, when life gets difficult, we just have to RE-remember our purpose, right? Over time, she be-gan to regain trust in not only the Mary Kay Career but in her NSD. Because she refused to slip into a comfort zone, she has retired her hus-band Shane for over a year now and they both parent their 4 little ones. One more story – Cadillac Sales Director, Casi Hill was a brilliant interior designer when Mary Kay found her. She and her husband were drowning in CC debt. Recently, she was not well physically and it was affecting every aspect of her business, including her drive, causing her to think thoughts of leaving MK and returning to her original field, slipping back into an easy comfort zone. Sometimes when we slip into our com-fort zones, when life gets difficult, we just have to RE-remember our purpose, right? Casi knew she was capable of earning a Pink Cadillac so She sought the help of her doctor who discovered a b12 deficiency, now she takes b12 shots from home and is back in the game and driven! She’s currently working on retiring her husband Chad, from a job at which he’s underpaid and under-appreciated. Talk about choices! You know, Jesus’ disciples did the very same thing. In John 21, there’s a story, of the disciples slipping back into their comfort zones. After 3 years with Jesus, and seeing him killed, buried and coming back to life – even seeing him live and in person after his death, what did they do? They slipped back into their comfort zones – they went fishing. When they felt disappointed because they caught no fish, guess who appeared in the boat? Jesus! He didn’t say, “you idiots, what are you doing fishing after all I’ve taught you?” He said, drop the net on the other side of the boat. They didn’t question him, they trusted him. They did it and guess what happened? 152 fish were caught in the net and the net began to stretch and tear. They hurried back to shore and Jesus said, “this is really not what you are to be doing, slipping back into your comfort zones. You are to be FISHERS OF MEN” EVERY leader in this entire company has thought of quitting at one time or another. I have, Cadillac Directors have and even the 12 disciples who saw Jesus LIVE, thought about quitting. We’ve all had thoughts of giving up and slipping back into a perceived better place, a comfort zone – should I stay or should I go. The champions are the ones who PRESS ON. A champion is not a champion because she braver than other people. A champion is a champion because she’s braver LONGER than other people. Sometimes when we slip into our comfort zones, when life gets difficult, we just have to RE-remember our purpose, right? So get out of that silly comfort zone. Get yourself booked up. Get yourself in action and stay in motion. Press through disappointment because we ALL have it. Be the disciple who doesn’t question the leader and just does the work. It’s OK to feel intimidated and to feel like quitting – it’s NOT OK to let that stop you. Be a champion today! Love your NSD, Lisa Allison
