With the Celtic harp, tin whistles, fiddle, button accordian and bodhran (Irish drum), Phil Edmonds, originally from County Clare, and Mary King, Rhode Island musician for decades, bring the sweet sounds of traditional Irish music to weddings, art galleries, libraries and other performance venues. Irish folk tales round out the set for a fun, engaging program.

The Greenville Public Li-brary Tuesday Night Knit-ting Club is now called the KNITTING MAVENS, and they meet every Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. New members are always welcome.

A representative from BLUE CROSS/BLUE SHIELD will be at the library on Tuesday, March 22 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm to discuss the Blue Chip for Medicare program through Blue Cross/Blue Shield. This program is free and open to the public.

StoryhoursRegistration for the spring series of storyhours will be taken from April 4-9.

Sessions will begin on April 11 and continue for six weeks. The groups are:

Turtle-Time for ages 1 1/2- 2 1/2 years accompanied by a caregiver, Mondays at 10:15 or 11:15 am.

Toddler Storytimes for ages 2 1/2-3 1/2 years accompanied by a caregiver, Fridays at 10:15 or 11:15 am.

Preschool Storytimes for ages 3 1/2-5 1/2 years, Wednesdays from 10:30-11:15 am or 1:15-2:00 pm.

Lego ClubThe Lego Club for children ages 6-10 will meet on Mondays, March 14, and 28 at 4 pm. Please bring your legos.

Art ClassAdele Karbowski will present an art class for children ages 6-10 on Thursday, March 17 at 4 pm. Registration will begin March 1. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!Children ages 6-10 are welcome to join us on Wednesday, March 16 at 4 pm, for some St. Patrick’s Day fun. Children will hear stories about St. Patrick’s Day, try their luck at a game of Bingo, and make a St. Patrick’s Day craft! Registration for this program begins on March 1.

Children’s Room Display Bubble Benjamin Rees will display his Star Wars figures in the Children’s Room Bubble during March. Eight-year-old Benjamin has been collecting Star Wars for about a year because he saw the show and liked the characters. Star Wars fans, don’t forget to check out Benjamin’s display!

Getting Ready for Kindergarten ProgramChildren who are entering kindergarten in the fall, along with their parents, are invited to a program of stories and fun activities in this collaborative effort between the local libraries and the Smithfield Outreach program. The integrated preschool teachers will be on hand, as well as the children’s librarians from both libraries in town. Parents will receive a calendar explain-ing the early learning standards to use with their children to better prepare them for kindergar-ten. Refreshments will be served. March 25 from 12:30-1:30 pm is the date for the Greenville Library event (rescheduled from the February 2 date). A second event will be held at the East Smithfield Library in the spring (date TBA). Gaming FunTuesdays are days to play with the library’s Wii and Xbox consoles, and that means those between the ages of 11 and 18 are invited to drop into the library from 2:00-6:00 pm to have some group fun. We have the systems set up for participants to play a selection of games that includes Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Kart, American Idol, and a number of other titles.

Be a Word NerdTeens and tweens are invited to come to the library on Monday, March 7 for some Scrabble fun. Participants are welcome to play as individuals or in teams as they vie to earn the most points using their knowledge of vocabulary

Flower PensWith spring in full bloom, it is time to celebrate the warmer weather. Using some simple craft skills and supplies provided by the library, you will get to turn a pen or two into a special bouquet to keep for yourself or give to someone else. Come and get creative at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, March 9.

OutburstIf you like the Family Feud, you really should give this fun party game a try, and the library is pro-viding you with an opportunity to do just that! The fun kicks off at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 17. Tweens and teens are welcome to participate.

PictionaryCalling all artists! Come to the library to compete against other tweens and teens in a contest to see which team can best identify what is being drawn. Join us on Monday, March 21 at 3:00 pm. This program is going to be a real draw so make sure to participate!

SurvivorThe new season of survivor has just kicked off. The library will be offering you a chance to be exiled and compete against a group of players to see he will come out on time. The trials and tribulations will start at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 31.

Anime CinemaAre you into anime? Every Friday afternoon, you can come to the library and enjoy a free showing of some Japa-nese-themed cartoons at 2:30 pm. Following each showing, feel free to stay and discuss what you have watched. Over the course of the summer, the library will be showing episodes of Sgt Frog. Regis-ter quickly because space is limited!

Program HelpersFeeling lucky? Come and share the luck by helping out with a craft program the library is presenting for chil-dren on Monday, March 16 at 4:00 pm. The program will include a game of bingo and a chance to make that perfect St. Patrick’s Day decoration, and they need your help to make them just right! If you like working with children, this is a great opportunity for you to fill those community service requirements.

Cookie CreationsWe will be baking up a storm, and the results will be cook-ies. When they are done, we will be decorating them with all sorts of frostings, jimmies, and other colorful topics. We will be warming our ovens up at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, March 23. All tweens and teens are welcome.
