Renowned dancers from such luminous companies as American Ballet Theatre, Morphoses, The Royal Ballet, New york City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and many other prestigious companies grace the stage for this one-of-a-kind performance.
TITAS commissioned new works premiering at the gala with dancers yuan yuan Tan and Damian Smith of San Francisco Ballet, and Drew Jacoby and Rubinald pronk, currently dancing with Morphoses. Don’t miss this opportunity to see the
fireworks of the dance world April 3 at the Music hall in Fair park. Thanks to its high level of talent and first-class repertoire and
presentation, Julie Kent of American Ballet Theater says “Command Performance is one of the great ballet galas in the world today. Command Performance is an event without peer in the North Texas area. It is an experience that dance fans, experienced or inexperienced, can truly appreciate and revel in the virtuosity and diversity of the performers.”
“I am honored to serve as president of the Friends of WRR. The Friends of WRR is a grass roots, non-profit organization of over 700 dedicated member listeners whose mission is to support WRR in providing a 24-hour classical music radio format for both north Texas and on

The Dallas Museum of Art is rolling out a new feature for patrons, smART phone tours, beginning with The Lens of Impressionism.
The Lens of Impressionism is an exploration of impressionist painting’s response to early photography. This occurs within the context of a single geographic locale that was intensely explored by painters and photographers in the second half of the 19th century—the coast of Normandy.
The convergence of social, artistic, technological, and commercial forces along the Normandy coast dramatically transformed the course of photography and painting, ultimately having a profound impact on the history of early impressionism. Among the artists represented here are painters Claude Monet, Édouard Manet, and Gustave Courbet, and photographers Gustave le Gray, henri le Secq, and louis-Alphonse Davanne.
The DMA begins a new convergence of tech and tools during Lens with smART phone tours. SmART phone tours are designed to be accessed through a web enabled wireless device (iphone, iTouch or Blackberry.) This doesn’t mean you’re going to be lost if you’re like many arts patrons and your cell phone is just that, a phone; the DMA has iTouch’s available to borrow to get the full exhibition experience.
Using your web-enabled device, you connect to dallasmuseumart.mobi for a docent lead tour of the exhibition which features current photos of the area featured, maps of the land, artist profiles, work by the artist in the museum’s permanent collection and much more.
The exhibition includes approximately ninety works, including photographs, paintings, drawings, and prints. Forty photographs, most of them vintage prints, and thirty-eight paintings, pastels, and watercolors will be shown, along with a selection of prints, maps, and ephemera evoking the new touristic culture of the Normandy coast.

The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth presents Andy Warhol: The Last Decade through May 16. Warhol represents the first U.S. museum survey exhibition to explore the work that this seminal American artist produced during the final eight years of his life. Warhol entered a period of renewed vigor and enthusiasm in the 1980s that resulted in what was arguably the most productive period of his career.
listing minimalist avant-garde composers such as Terry Riley, John Cage and philip Glass, all also big on redundancy as inspirations, Warhol was a lover of classical music and attended the opera regularly.
The exhibition includes approximately 55 works lent by private collections and institutions such as The Museum of Modern Art, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Baltimore Museum of Art, and Andy Warhol Museum, pittsburgh. Along with an introduction to Warhol, it is divided into thematic sections based on significant Warhol series: abstract works; collaborations (featuring Jean-Michel Basquiat); black-and-white ads; works surrounding death and religion; self-portraits; camouflage patterns; and a concluding section of the artist’s last Supper series.
Watch wrr101.com in April for a chance to win tickets to this exhibition.

The Friends of WRR received a generous contribution February 4 from Amy Bowman in honor of her late father, Dave Trent, on what would have been his 70th birthday. Although a cost engineer by trade, Mr. Trent was a lover of classical music and played the tuba and sousaphone. As a child in Milwaukee, Amy remembers hearing only classical music in her home from her earliest years. her father particularly loved brass ensembles such as Canadian Brass and empire Brass. Amy, who lives in Fairview, is a widow and mother of 4.
Malnutrition among the elderly is one of the most important, yet least known health problems in the United States. over half of all elderly individuals hospitalized each year suffers from malnutrition that either caused their illness or prevented them from getting well.
Many elderly lack sufficient resources for nutritious daily meals. Illness, disability, and frailties related to old age may also prevent them from shopping for food and preparing their own meals.
Senior nutrition is a problem that needs attention. Community support for local Meals On Wheels programs is needed to keep the service in operation.
The Meals on Wheels Association of America has designated the month of March for taking action to preserve senior nutrition programs. March was chosen because The older Americans Act of 1965 was amended on March 22, 1972 to create the first national nutrition program for the elderly. The Visiting Nurse Association has been preparing and delivering Meals On Wheels in Dallas County since 1973.
March is the time to demonstrate a commitment to Meals On Wheels programs by answering the need for volunteer drivers and donor support. The Meals on Wheels Association of America is asking individuals and organizations to “Take the pledge to end Senior hunger By 2020.”
Watch as WRR’s Tempie lindsey spends the day with Meals on Wheels at youtube.com/wrr101fm. Tempie talks with those who are affected by the work of Meals on Wheels, both at the giving and receiving end. And listen March 1-5 as WRR’s Classic Cafe features guests from the Visiting Nurses Association to talk about what it takes to insure ‘no senior goes hungry.’
