It was “Red Thumb Day” at the Glasgow High School yesterday afternoon, and oneof the ngernail painters was Mylee Rasmusan, brushing it on nice and thick whileenjoying a lolipop. It was a sea of red indeed as students and staffers were all sportingW8 2 TXT t-shirts. The idea is simple: a painted thumb nail (or a red band which lotsof the guys were sporting) will remind you that each time you open a car door or placeyour hands on a steering wheel, the red color will remind you not to text and drive.

I’ve just about had my ll o people bashing Donaldrump based on what they see and hear on elevision. I you

are really that stupid, believing those talking heads don’t havean agenda, call me.....I have some Ocean Front Property inIowa I’d like to talk to you about. Do a little research. O all the Candidates romthe beginning, who is the proven Manager? Te provennegotiator? Te one with enough guts to say what needs tobe said and Political Correctness be damned. Name another Candidate who isn’t in someone’s hippocket. Be they donor, lobbyist or Super-Pac operator. rump has his aults, but he’s only human. Some olkstry and say he’s too egotistical..........I’d bet a large sum omoney that i they built a Muti-National, Muti-Billion Dollarbusiness, they’d have an ego that would rub some olks thewrong way as well.

We’re down to ve Candidates, I’ll give you my take oneach one. Bernie Sanders: Another career Politician who neverhad a real job and thinks the way you do things is just giveeverybody ree stuff. When nailed down in a one-on-oneinterview will balkingly admit that a lot o the ree stuff will be paid or by the middle class. I wouldn’t vote or thisCommunist. Hillary Clinton: LIAR. Tat pretty much sums her up.I she wasn’t so well connected and so ar lef, even the Mediawould nail her. Te only other thing to say about her can besaid in one word: Benghazi. John Kasich: Another long time Politico whoconstantly reminds you o his time in Washington prior tohis Governorship. Not anything to brag about in my book.ook money rom George Soros, the man who owns Obama.

ed Cruz: He’s not quite the liar Hillary is, but he doeshave a history. His campaigns are smitten with shady deals, all quite similar to the crap he pulled on Ben Carson in Iowa. His actual “legal” right to run or President has yet to beaddressed by him directly. He too is owned by big moneydonors. Donald J. rump: Te ONLY Candidate who is sel

unded. Te only candidate who continually talks about howmuch this Country means to him. He supports our Vets, ourLaw En orcement, and wants to gives back a Strong Military. Hillary bashes rump by saying we don’t need to makeAmerica Great again, We still are great............Lady (and Iuse that term loosely) i you think America is great in ourcurrent condition, you need some serious Counseling. Te Mainstream Media, Te Democrats, TeRepublican Establishment and radical lefist groups are allagainst rump.......that in itsel tells me he’s the man or theJob. ~ Jon A. Blockhus

Letter to the BuzzReds Baseball, Only a Dream?

Te Babe Ruth League is an international youth baseballand sofball league that was started in 1951 or the benet olearning the game at different levels o play.

Cal Ripken – Any player born prior to May 1, 2012and on or afer May 1, 2003 will be eligible or Cal RipkenBaseball League competition. 13-15 – Any player born prior to May 1, 2003 and on orafer May 1, 2000 will be eligible or Babe Ruth 13-15 Leaguecompetition. Glasgow Baseball is still strong…..Some people seem tonot have all o the acts when commenting on our Legionand Babe Ruth programs. Legion Baseball lost 11 seniors lastyear and ve underclassman. A program that had two teams.o make the second team complete, they pulled up 10 players

that were still eligible or Babe Ruth, including a 13-year-oldand a 12-year-old. Necessary?? I guess it depends on who

you ask. Could we have had three Babe Ruth teams? Yes. Tereasons or not having three Babe Ruth teams were that thekids who moved up to the B team were promised more gamesand playing time. Did they get that? Probably! So why didwe lose underclassmen? Some o them needed to get jobs topay or college, some wanted more ree time or the summer, and maybe some don’t care or the coach. It happens all the

time.I am not sure i anyone has actually asked the 15-years-

olds why they choose to stay in Babe Ruth. I am not sure whysomeone actually thinks the Babe Ruth coaches are makingthese decisions. As ar as I know, most o these coaches havnot had a conversation with the players since season endedlast year, unless it is to say hi in passing. Yes, they wouldlike a shot at a state title and a shot at Regionals, and theyhave a better shot playing against teams their own age verses16-19-year-old teams. I they can make it happen, they willhave those memories or the rest o their lives. Is winningeverything? No, but winning in sports develops drive to besuccess ul adults. What is wrong with that? Someone saidthat winning is not the attitude to have in team sports. Atwhat point do we teach our kids to start competing andwinning? When trying to talk to a player about his decisionto stay on the Babe Ruth one more year, the response Ireceived was “this is MY team, these 15-year-old players arethe kids I have been playing with since I was 10. I want onemore year with them.” He also said “we have been at the

same eld practicing every day or two years and the legionplayers don’t even talk to us when they walk by.” I guess mypoint is i your Legion Program/Coach encourage that kindo division I am not sure what you expect. Te brotherhoodtalked about by the community doesn’t seem to extend tothe younger players i they don’t idolize legion players and/orcoaches. Do I think these 15-years-olds could compete at Legionlevel? Yes! So i these 15-year-olds decided to double roste(Babe Ruth and Legion), who will be upset in July when theirplayer goes to the bench because they are being replaced by a15-year-old?

Do I want my child on a bus that allows chewing andgambling? No! Do I hope that I have raised my child tomake the right decision and not do those things? Yes, but byallowing a coach to be responsible or my child I would hopethat my child is not put in that scenario. Rules are rules.

Do I want there to be a Legion team? Absolutely! Doesthis upset me too? Yes! But do I think I should orce my childto play Legion ball when he doesn’t want to? No. Should Imake him because it is what the program needs? Dependson who you ask. Remember we have this problem becauseo shortage o kids, not because my child doesn’t want to

play Legion. I know this community supports Glasgow RedsBaseball, Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken and I thank you all orthat. I believe we will get through this cycle, just like wealways have. I you need numbers to complete the Legionteam then I suggest you nd out why we are at a loss o kidsages 16-18.

Instead o making assumptions, you need to visit withthe past players that are actually the correct age or the Legionprogram and stop BLAMING the players that are not o age

or Legion. Concerned baseball mom, Erin Myrick
