Connect with Others at ConvergenceIn addition to the great lineup of sessions and content Convergence offers, networking is one of the most valuable aspects of this event. Here are a few ways to easily connect with others:

Community Experience: Just like your favorite neighborhood hangout, the Community Experience offers tables and couches where you can meet with others, productivity areas to utilize the WiFi and recharge your devices, and much more. The Community Experience is located in the CEC, Building B, Hall B1–B3. For details on everything the Community Experience has to offer, see page 48.

Contact Exchange: Easily exchange contact information with other event attendees by scanning the QR code printed on the front of attendee badges with your smart phone. For attendees who chose to have their information available, the QR code will allow you to share your name, email address, and company name, with other attendees.

Fireside Chats and Town Hall Gatherings: These little gems are a new and informal way to make additional connections with people from the Microsoft community. Both of these gatherings take place in our Spotlight Theater located within the Microsoft Solutions Experience in the CEC. Check Schedule Builder for dates and times.

Town Hall Gatherings are brief, casual conversations with some of our most visionary Microsoft customers. Come and get inspired as they share their experiences!

Fireside Chats are an opportunity to hear from some of the influencers within the Microsoft organization. These are the folks you will rarely see on the big stage, yet they hold a vast amount of knowledge that will make your Fireside Chat time riveting and fascinating.

Interactive Discussions: This session type is far less about any presentation, and is more about learning and sharing with others. Each Interactive Discussion has a set topic, and one or more moderators, yet it’s the participants in the session who help drive the value as experiences are shared, questions are asked, and connections are made. By design, seating for each Interactive Discussion is limited to help foster a more productive conversation. Check out the session listings in your Session Guide or in Schedule Builder for more details.

Meeting Points: If you need an informal place to meet with colleagues there are six (6) Meeting Points distributed throughout the convention center. Each Meeting Point is identified with a “Meeting Point” sign and has tables and chairs, power, and WiFi for your use. See the conference map on page 2 for locations.

Convergence-5GHz or Convergence. When you are prompted for a password please use: Atlanta2015

If you have questions or need assistance with your wireless access, please see the representatives at one of the two Convergence Information Desks.

The Convergence-5GHz network is the higher performing network with more available channels, faster speeds, and is available throughout the Georgia World Congress Center, Philips Arena, and the Omni Hotel Meeting Space. If your WiFi device sees the Convergence-5GHz network please select it. The Convergence-5GHz network will be the only network available to attendees in these areas.

Conference Services and Information

Conference Services and Information

Additionally, please make sure you are not connected to an AD-HOC/Peer-to-Peer network, and that you are in an area that supports WiFi.Due to the user load in congested areas, you may experience a slow connection or have difficulty connecting to the network at times. If that is the case, you may want to move to a less congested area. Rogue APs can cause problems for attendees attempting to use the wireless system and can degrade WiFi performance for everyone. Personal APs or base-stations of any kind should not be used inside the Georgia World Congress Center or Philips arena.

Security and the Convergence Wireless NetworkThe wireless network at Convergence is a shared network, designed to require minimal configuration by attendees. We have enabled WPA security protocol, though we do recommend that you be prudent in securing your resources, as you should on any public wireless network.

Be a Good Wireless NeighborIn order for Microsoft to deliver a robust and dependable wireless experience for all Convergence attendees, we ask that you read and follow these best practices prior to connecting to the wireless or wired networks:

Updates: • Install all critical patches and updates for your operating system. Windows Update is included in the Control Panel. • Download and install the latest anti-virus signatures for your software.

• Ensure that your personal firewall software is active.

General: • Ensure that your system is set to Infrastructure wireless use only and is not associating to, or broadcasting ad-hoc networks. • Monitor your connections—do not connect to the wireless and wired networks at the same time.

Liability for Damage or Loss of DataMicrosoft will not be responsible for any damages to your computer or device, or loss of any data caused by accessing the Convergence wireless network, or by your inability to access it.

Convergence ExperienceCenter (CEC) Guide Building B, Hall B1–B3

The CEC is the hub of Convergence, incorporating the Microsoft Solutions Experience, Community Experience, and Expo Experience, all of which offer a variety of great resources—all conveniently located in one area!

Microsoft Solutions ExperienceThe Microsoft Solutions Experience (MSE), located in the center of the Expo Experience, is the hub of all things Microsoft. This is THE place to not only talk to product experts, visit technical support, and explore the customer immersion experience, but also where you can see Microsoft Solutions in action through some of our most celebrated customers.

Microsoft Solutions Experience HoursMonday, March 16 12:00pm – 8:00pm CEC Reception: 6:00pm – 8:00pm

Tuesday, March 17 10:00am – 5:00pm Dedicated time: 10:00am – 12:00pm

Wednesday, March 18 10:00am – 4:30pmThursday, March 19 11:00am – 2:30pm

In the back of the MSE, Microsoft product managers will be on hand to show you demos, features and the many benefits of Microsoft technologies. Many of the staffers in this area are also presenting Convergence sessions, so you’re sure to connect with a wealth of knowledge.

Convergence Experience Center (CEC) Guide

Microsoft Retail Store: The Microsoft Retail Store provides a high-touch shopping environment where you can learn about, experience, and purchase Microsoft products and services. We offer an assortment of best-in-class PCs, Surfaces, Xbox One Gaming Products, Windows Phone 8, Business Solutions, Software, Accessories, and Technology Services.

Technical Support: You’ll find Microsoft support engineers ready to answer your in-depth, burning questions—free of charge! Past attendees have said that the Technical Support alone is well worth the conference fee. Just go to the product area you’re most interested in and look for the stations that read “Technical Support” to start the conversation.

Spotlight Theater: The Spotlight Theater features brief conversations with a handful of the most interesting leaders from within our Microsoft community. When we’re in the Town Hall mode in the theater, we’re featuring community members who are stepping up to share stories and experiences of their journey—to Convergence, to success, to enlightenment—maybe all three? When we’re in the Fireside Chat mode, we’re featuring members from the Microsoft team who are leading the way with their passion and excitement for technology. These are likely not the folks leading sessions at this event—they’re the ones working a year or two ahead of the things you’re learning now. Take this unique opportunity to sit back, relax and expand your circle of friends as we gather for a time of inspiration and interest. Check Schedule Builder to see a full listing and schedule of theater presentations.

User Groups: Learn about educational and networking activities that happen throughout the year when you visit the Microsoft Dynamics user group booths in the Microsoft Solutions Experience. Just look for the AXUG, CRMUG, GPUG, and NAVUG logos on the stations.
