CLASS NEWS
K Kindergarten had a great time at the Monster Fest! Students wrote recounts about their favourite parts of the evening.
My favourite part of the Monster Fest was going in the spooky tunnel. I liked the skeleton hanging up on the roof. Erin
My favourite part of the Monster Fest was going into the spooky tunnel. I scared everyone and they got scared. I had the best night. Elly
My favourite part of the Monster Fest was cleaning up the milk bottles. It was fun. After that I went in to the spooky tunnel. After that I played with my friends. Ryan
My favourite part of the Monster Fest was throwing the zombie arm. Hamish My favourite part of the Monster Fest was going in the spooky tunnel. There was a
man that said “Boo.” Gabriella My favourite part of the Monster Fest was I saw my friend Caleb and he was a cowboy.
Nicholas 1 In Mathematics we have been learning about place value. We have been adding larger two digit numbers together and finding the total. In HSIE we have been talking about groups we belong to and why those groups are important to us. In English we have been reading books about friendship. We have discussed the characters in the books. In writing we have described what they look like, how they are the same and how they are different. We have also written about their personalities and how they are the same and how they can be different but they are still friends.

2/3 2/3 had a fantastic day at the Wheel-a-thon. Great to see everyone in red! I will be sending home a note about the concert rehearsal next week. Hopefully everyone should have their 2 costumes finalised. If you do not please let me know and I can organise a costume for your child. 2/3 have been fascinated by th e author Anthony Browne who wrote the book we were studying called “Little Beauty”. All the children are borrowing his other books from the school library. In Mathematics, we have been looking at problem solving using multiplication and division. 3/4 We have been having a great two weeks, I think they did actually miss me while I was on leave. We have been busy during the last two weeks, polishing up our dancing moves! We do look great! During maths we have been focusing on volume and capacity, looking at how much space objects take up. Drawing a shape we have made from different views and getting our partners to remake the shape without our help, to check we have drawn it correctly. Everyone was able to remake all the shapes, so well done 3/4. Discussion during Science has been about weathering and how weather effects rocks and forms different shapes for example river stones. They all seemed very interested in this process, luckily we had some photos from Jenolan Caves to discuss how they are formed from the rain and the limestone dissolving.
5/6 5/6 have continued to work in their literacy units of work. While Year 5 continue to work on ‘No Gun for Asmir’, Year 6 have changed texts to begin reading ‘Once’ by Morris Gleitzman. This follows the story of Felix, a young Jewish boy who is growing up in Nazi occupied Poland in 1940. We have explored some of the reasons the war has began. Students are exploring theories around Adolf Hitler’s motivations for war. We have also been working hard to consolidate our understandings in addition, subtraction and multiplication of fractions. Most of us are now experts! Our weekly assessment tasks are helping to get us ready for next year. Concert preparations are coming along well and we are looking forward to our performance night in Week 7. We just have to collect all of our costume items for next week. Year 5 are getting ready to give their captains’ speeches. We invite our families to assembly on Friday 13th November where we will talk to the school and cast our votes for captains 2016.

Canteen News!
CHANGE IS COMING!!
WHAT’S HAPPENING?
Due to unexpected changes in our work situations both
Belinda and I are unable to carry on managing the
Canteen in 2016.
Each year we lose a few 5/6 parents from the roster.,
next year is no different.
It is time for some new faces to step up and commit to
working in canteen. Your commitment would only need to
be once a month or even once a term. At this time we are
struggling to meet the number of volunteers required to
open on both Wednesday and Friday for 2016. Whilst a
few people have put their hand up for a days next year we
need more.
WHAT WE NEED
- more volunteers
- new managers for the canteen
Other Alternatives
Our only other alternative is to tender out the Canteen.
The positive to this is that our canteen will be open more
days.
If you would like to volunteer or to take on the managing
role please speak to Mr Gaffey or myself.
Many Thanks
Linda Constantine
