s.Pantone, the world-renowned
authority on colour, has announced Marsala as the colour of 2015.
Sophisticated, robust and earthy, this captivating colour has taken the world of fashion and beauty by storm, and has seen designers like Daniel Silverstain, Hervé Léger by Max Azria and Dennis Basso incorporating the hue into their 2015 collections.
How was the colour chosen? Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, explains: “While Pantone 18-3224 Radiant Orchid, the 2014 colour of the year, encouraged creativity and innovation, Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability.”
With the last of summer lingering in the air, we’re loving the soft, sunny
colours of the season. Create a relaxed, rustic summer vibe
in your wardrobe by pairing Marsala with pretty pinks and tones of taupe and tan, balanced by the earthiness of rich browns.
Soft, summery blues and yellows combine well with the richness of this hue to create a look that’s classy but grounded.
According to Pantone, Marsala is flattering against many skin tones, and makes for a sultry but subtle pop of colour.
Its deep red hues are dramatic, conveying a sense of glamour and luxury, yet at the same time, the rich brown undertones are grounding, with a sophisticated earthiness.
Here’s how to shop the colour of 2015 and what to pair it with.
