FROM OUR PRESIDENT:

It’s all about the little things…

Waking up the senses this morning with some fresh brewed coffee and a sweet song bird sitting outside my kitchen window. I stepped

out into the patio warming my hands with my coffee cup. Outside the air is crisp and cool enough to see my breath and sting my nose.

The abundance of rain has contributed to the blanket of yellow wildflowers scattered everywhere in the canyon beyond my fence. The

sound of buzzing bees catches my attention, busy collecting nectar while the rest of nature seemingly doesn’t even notice their efforts.

The peace and tranquility of early morning is one of my favorite times of the day. It briefly reminds me to stop, look and listen for the

little miracles that surround me each and every day, so grateful for the little things. Just then the sun hides behind a moving cloud and

a sudden chill directs me back in to warm up. I enter with enough renewed energy to tackle the tasks for today and a sense of creativi-

ty in my step. My sewing project calls out to me, back to work I go.

Progress is underway and our quilt show will be here before we know it. Let’s all do our part to ensure this year’s success. Remem-

ber to sign up to show our Opportunity Quit to other guilds. Also, Sell! Sell! Sell your Opportunity quilt show tickets. Do your best

to attend the Guild meetings to stay up to date with progress on the quilt show, and sign up to volunteer in any capacity you can. We

are again looking for new vendors for our show, please email or see me for any suggestions. Look forward to seeing you all at the next

meeting.

AMAZING QUILTS BY GRACE

MARCH SPEAKER: Grace Errea Fiber artist, designer, quilter, and

author, Grace J. Errea, began quilting in 2000. Her art focuses on the depiction of

inspiring scenes in a value based contemporary-realistic manner. She feels very

fortunate to have many of her first quilts become exhibited in juried shows and be

recognized for their innovation in technique and depiction of nature and people.

In 2005 she chose to retire from a very successful career as an executive in a

Fortune 500 computer and telecommunications company to devote herself to her

art on a full-time basis. Grace is a self-taught artist and her work illustrates and has been recognized for exceptional

primary use of values and secondary use of color. Her focus on value makes it easy for her and her students to create

inspiring botanicals, landscape scenes and portraits, in any color.

Grace’s innovative techniques and her focus on value have attracted widespread interest from quilters, as well as national

and international galleries, museums and publications. She has been invited to show her art and to teach overseas and in

various locations in the United States. Her class offerings are well attended, in demand, and are presented in fun,

informal, and educational manner. The aim is to inspire, develop and find that artist within each student or listener.

Grace designs quilt patterns for Hoffman of California Fabrics in Mission Viejo, CA. Her patterns can be found in

prestigious catalogs such as Keepsake Quilting, Nancy’s Notions, and Hancock of Paducah. She is the author of the

C&T book entitled: Impressionist Applique – Exploring Value and Design to Create Artistic Quilts, Grace is the authority of

how to use Value to develop amazing art quilts.
