Issue Solution Impact

Identify current gaps in veteran services and address the lack of comprehensive and accurate data regarding the military-impacted populations in Los Angeles County

Create the nation’s first large-scale, comprehensive survey of veterans’ needs and services and assess the current state and structure of the Los Angeles Veterans Collaborative (LAVC), which comprises community stakeholders and representatives from organizations serving veterans and military families in the Los Angeles area

USC CIR has a comprehensive data set addressing veteran’s needs in the county to help prioritize next steps and inform policy and replicate in other major geographies. This is the most comprehensive data set in existence. It lights the way to better understand our veterans’ needs even before they become an issue for the veteran!

FY 15

Lack of centralized collaborative for veterans organizations and need for local data to identify specific areas of concern for military-impacted populations in San Francisco & Chicago

Gather and engage community stakeholders (non-profits, philanthropic, educational, legislative) to form framework for future collaborative model and conduct a large-scale, comprehensive needs assessment study in San Francisco & Chicago

FY 16

Community stakeholder engagement in San Francisco & Chicago further develops framework for a Veterans Collaborative in San Francisco and supports the veterans needs assessment study efforts that will inform policy to address areas of veterans’ specific need
