Volunteer Needed
Attention parents and Chardon residents,
Maple Elementary is in need of a head crossing guard. We pride ourselves on being able to ensure safety for our students and families as they arrive and depart from school each day and want you to be a part of the team in this effort! If you would be interested in this position, please contact Sarah Strawinski at [email protected] or (440) 678-7019. The time commitment is minimal, but the reward you receive from giving back to the school is immeasurable. Here's your chance to get involved and give back

The food service program would like to remind you of what happens when school is closed due to weather. If our district is closed, the menu that was supposed to be served on the snow day will be moved to the next school day. An example: if school is cancelled on Tuesday due to weather, Tuesday's menu will be served on Wednesday, and the menu that was scheduled for Wednesday will be completely cancelled.

Library Corner for Maple Happenings
Our Groovy Scholastic book fair was right on! Book sales reached over $4,600 which calculates to about 500 books sold! Our All for Books Classroom Challenge raised over $280 for books for our students and library. Mrs. Picone?s class came from far behind to win the challenge - a set of books from the book fair and some smiley cookies from PTO. It just goes to show you that it?s not over til l it?s over! I will be adding over 50 new books from the book fair to our library collection. Students anxiously await to be the f irst ones to check out these new books!
Many thanks goes to all the volunteers who helped to make our book fair a success. They are Rebekah Havanchak, Susan Butterf ield, Heather Chollett, Nichole Meyer, Jodi Maczuzak, Michelle Primc, Tracey Wilkinson, Kelly Schmidt, Tracey Stehura, Lynn Baioni, Jodi Clute and Deb Robie. From the decorations to set up and take down to running the cash registers, all volunteers were greatly appreciated! Special thanks to Susan and Debi for organizing the Breakfast & Books event during our book fair. It was wonderful to see so many guests enjoying some special t ime with our students. Thanks also to Denise Hagan for the groovy tye dyed smiley faced cookies for our Teacher Preview. They were delicious and groovy!
Thank you to all students and families for supporting our book fair! Next book fair will be in the middle of May. It will be a Buy One Get One Free book fair! See you then!
